We are so ready!

🐶 🌟 DAY 2, HERE WE COME! We cannot wait for you all to arrive at Trentham Estate for the second day of The Big Bark in the Park! 👏👏👏 To help you have the BEST day here's some useful information to help you plan your visit:

🐶 Please keep dogs on a lead at all times, if you have a retractable lead, please keep it short.
🐶 Please put poo bags in the dedicated poo bins provided on site.
🐶 Please have your tickets ready to scan on arrival – the Big Bark entry point is NEXT to the main reception, and you will be unable to get tickets for the Big Bark in the main reception.
🐶 Tickets are available at the door for Members and non-Members.
🐶 The event will be hosted on the event field by the lake. Please follow the signs up to the Big Bark entry point in Trentham Gardens.
🐶 We advise you to bring cash as some traders do not accept card payments and the activities take cash only.
🐶 FREE Parking is located onsite and there is approx. a 0.5-mile walk to the event field.
🐶 We have a welfare officer and canine first aiders on site. Should you need their assistance they will be in high vis vests or visit our Information Point.
🐶 You will be given an event schedule on the entry gate.
🐶 Refreshments are available on site.
🐶 If your dog is nervous or reactive with other dogs, please do not bring them to the event, if we see overly stressed dogs, we will advise you to leave the event.
🐶 There will be water stations around the site for you to refill dog bowls.

Day 3 of Pet First Aid Awareness Month.

This post is going to be about a potential injury that can happen occasionally, especially to active dogs, working dogs, gun dogs etc.

If a dog lands on a fence post or a sharp broken branch they can damage the Brachial artery which is runs through the armpit. Like humans, it's a difficult place to tourniquet so the best action is to apply pressure immediately using your fist, hands, fingers etc

As the photograph shows, a tennis ball is a great object to use to help reduce blood loss. If a ball is squeezed in the armpit, it compresses the brachial artery, stopping the blood flow. Jam it in the armpit and keep it there hard as possible until you get to the Vets. It may just reduce blood loss enough for the dog to recover.

This is an injury I have had experience with working in Veterinary Practice

All in the day of a working dog… Abi and I had a great time today at Canine First Aid Workshops - UK - Rachel Bean RVN with Barley and Kiara being volunteer patients!

We left the day with a fantastic addition to our own knowledge and CPD and also great training practice for the dogs too having to do lots of “nothing” and also be handled and bandaged by unknown people. They were such good girls!

3 Novices and 2 Beginner Pet Gundog assessments in the bag; four of these handlers have already achieved this same level with me with another dog in their family, but turned up today ready to rock and roll and smashed it out of the park with distinctions!

It just shows how important it is to train every dog as an individual 🐶 🌟

This is suitable for Gundog or Gundog cross breeds over 6 months old.
