And last, but certainly not least, we need to give a HUGE shout-out to our vet team. Their exceptional skills and dedication in all aspects of veterinary care were key in achieving Gold Standard Cat Friendly Clinic accreditation. We truly appreciate each and every one of them. 🐈🐾

Special recognition goes to Katie, our Cat Friendly Advocate and one of our practice directors. Katie earned her Certificate in Small Animal Medicine (CertSAM) in 2010 and was awarded Advanced Practitioner status in 2015. She dedicates much of her time to caring for our feline friends.

Here’s what Katie has to say about the accreditation...

'I'm extremely proud of our team for achieving gold ISFM status. Plans to achieve gold status started in 2019 when we were planning the layout of our new hospital.

We have since created a separate cat waiting room that is bright, calm, and clean. It has shelves for carriers to allow our feline friends to sit at a high vantage point, and basket covers for our more timid patients.

My favorite room is the cat ward. It is warm and sunny with spacious, comfortable, and quiet kennels.

We also have an amazing team of staff who treat patients as if they were their own and are skilled enough to perform high-level procedures on site, 24 hours a day.

We were taught at university that “cats are not small dogs,” and they were certainly correct about this! Their behavior and needs are very different, and we do our best at Park House to respect our feline patients and keep them as relaxed and content as we can.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our lovely clients and their feline companions for their continued support. It means a lot to all of us!'

Let's revisit our incredible nursing team! 😺

Our nursing team is deeply involved in the care of feline patients, from surgery and inpatient care to consultations and client care, ensuring comprehensive support in all areas. That's why we strive to have a top-tier nursing team dedicated to cat care.🐾

We spoke to Dan, one of our cat-friendly advocates in practice, to hear about his new role:

"Before working in veterinary, I hadn't had much interaction with cats. But after spending time with them and observing how they operate as a species, I fell in love with them. I'm so proud of our team for their hard work in achieving this accreditation. I'm excited about the future of cat care in our constantly evolving veterinary practice! Now, with three cat friends at home, I'm officially a feline fanatic."

Thank you, Dan!🐾

Now it's time to shine the spotlight on our super reception team! ⭐ ✨

Playing a vital role in maintaining our ISFM Gold Standard Cat Friendly Clinic accreditation, our reception team is the first point of contact for many cat owners. They provide essential guidance on transporting and managing cats in the waiting room to minimize stress. 😺

We'd like to introduce Danielle, our reception manager and cat-friendly advocate at Park House Vets. Here's what she had to say about her role:

"I am proud of our team for striving to achieve the ISFM Gold Standard Cat Friendly Clinic accreditation. As a dedicated cat-friendly advocate, you will usually find me in reception, where I prioritize our feline friends' welfare and stress management. I also assist owners with safe handling and travel practices during their vet visits."

If you have any questions for our reception team or need tips on transporting your cats to the vet, please ask. We can send you a handy guide via email.

Thanks, Danielle! 😺🐈🐾

It's time to introduce another cat-friendly advocate within our practice. 😺

Meet Marni, one of our amazing Veterinary Care Assistants and a cat-friendly advocate!

🩺 Veterinary Care Assistants like Marni play a crucial role in our practice. They work closely with inpatients, ensuring they receive the best care, and assist the nursing and vet team in the theatre with surgical procedures, caring for animals during and after their operations. This means they spend a lot of time with your pets, especially our feline friends.

We asked Marni what she loves about being a cat-friendly advocate, and here's what she had to say:

"I find cats to be a fascinating and complex species. I have two cats at home, Mavis and Winnie. Mavis often wakes me up by tapping my face! I enjoy having cats around in a vet practice because they have a calming presence. I make sure to treat them in a way that keeps them as calm as possible."

Thank you, Marni 🐾

Meet Cassie!l How sweet is she 💕

Cassie visited us because she had eaten a grape 🍇

Unfortunately, grapes are very toxic to pets, and there is no established safe dose. Regardless of the amount consumed, it's crucial to book your pet in for immediate care to induce vomiting and eliminate the grape(s).

We're happy to report that Cassie has made a full recovery and learned to avoid grapes in the future.

Thanks for being such a well-behaved patient Cassie!

We've spoken about food for your rabbit companions, but what about water? 💧

Did you know that bowls are actually better for rabbits than water bottles? Lapping water from a bowl is more natural for rabbits, allowing them to display their natural behavior. It's always best to provide a bottle as a backup, though, in case the water bowl gets knocked over.

Casper and Jasper are simply adorable! 😍

Here they are, enjoying some cuddles with our veterinary care assistant Hannah and wards assistant Lillie. These two cuties visited us for neutering and to have their microchips placed. 😺 😺

📢 Did you know it will soon be illegal not to have your cat microchipped? 📢

According to the new government regulation, all cats must be microchipped before they are 20 weeks old. This law takes effect on June 10, 2024.

If your cat is already microchipped, please ensure your contact details are up to date. Remember, a microchipped cat is much more likely to be reunited with you if they get lost.

Unfortunately, we have had a deceased neutered male cat brought into the practice. He was found on Weeping Cross Road, Stafford. He has no collar or microchip and is black and white with a short-haired coat. He has a white belly, white legs, and a white stripe down his nose.

We have estimated him to be around 6 years of age.

If you believe this cat could be yours, please contact the practice at 01785 252846.
