In May, I celebrated 🥳 13 years of Doggy Boho. A lots has change in that time, life has had its ups and downs for us all of that I am sure.
Looking back and remembering the early days, I feel a little embarrassed about some of my first attempts. Some of you may be smiling now having been an original guiniepig during those development years, thank you!🫣
I’d sit up for hours on end trying to perfect the skill of making a martingale collar using my mums old Singer sewing machine! The number of needles broken trying to sew through layer after layer of fabric, webbing and lining. The number of times I’d make a mistake and have to start again from scratch, was torturous!🥴
Some of my fabric choices were a little suspect too! But with a built in tenacity inherited from both my parents, where nothing less than perfect was good enough, I find myself 13 years down the line and proud of what I have achieved and with a loyal customer base 🙏
I love what I do. At times it’s been very hard, at times it still is but I feel honoured to be dressing those tail wagging boho hounds who have become part of my pack🐾
Now I have a request I hope you can help me with🤔
For small business it’s never easy, least of all competing with the big fish 🐠.
Not having a foot in the door to celebrate endorsements or bulk discounts from supplies, and being responsibly for ever aspect of their business, from tea maker to decision maker, takes its toll.
Social media, despite its obvious downside, has created a platform to the world for which I am truly grateful but it’s a struggle.
