*ADOPTED*

Meet Loki, a giant breed German Shepherd whose size and weight far exceed that of an average German Shepherd. At five years old, Loki is the perfect blend of playful energy and relaxed companionship. His playful nature shines through, especially when there's a ball in sight—he's incredibly ball-motivated and will happily chase after one for hours. Loki is also a loving and protective companion, always loyal to his family and ready to watch over them.

Brought to the rescue through no fault of his own, Loki is looking for a forever home where he can be the center of attention. He cannot live with cats, small dogs, or children under the age of 15. If you have space in your heart and home for a gentle giant who will bring endless joy and security, Loki is the dog for you.

Message us for more information about how to adopt Loki.

On Friday we welcomed Loki.

Loki came to us on the 12th of April as an emergency placement from police kennels. He was due to be put to sleep that morning.

Not much was known about Loki when he first came to us, but we’ve found that he is extremely well mannered and friendly with people and other large dogs.

On the 11th of December we decided to take in a dog who was being rehomed, for a very low price, due to being pregnant. Originally, we took her in with the intention of finding her a forever home, where she wouldn’t be used for profit, after being spayed. The pups would have also been rehomed through rescue.

We quickly fell in love with her & decided to adopt her ourselves, where she has been our permanent shadow. Trusting us enough to be around her pups after only knowing us for 2 weeks.

On the 26/12/2023, she went into labour and had litter of 10. Unfortunately, after a few hours we noticed one of them to be ill and was subsequently rushed to an emergency vet. Despite everyone’s best efforts, the next morning he sadly passed on.

The following few weeks went smoothly and mum and pups were all healthy and doing well. They had their eyes open by 2 and a half weeks and their ears opened shortly after. They enjoyed socialising with each other and socialising with us. Everyday they were getting stronger and were showing more of their personalities.

Unfortunately this morning we noticed some of the pups behaving very strangely. As we were phoning vets to get the litter booked in their health quickly started to deteriorate, some of them stopped breathing while we were on the phone and despite our best efforts we could not revive them. After exhausting our full list of vets we were finally able to find one that was able to see them. However this was not before we lost 4 of the 9 puppies.

Upon arriving at the vet, one of the pups had deteriorated too much and the kindest option was euthanasia. The remaining 4 puppies have now been hospitalised and are spending some time at the vet hospital in intensive care.

Aswell as a devastating day, we are left with a bill of £1,675, and this is without further treatment and cremation costs and transportation costs. We are heartbroken at the pups we have lost, but we hope that we can save the remaining 4.

If you wish to donate towards the cost of the treatment of the pups and the cremation our PayPal is linked below.
