Great news!

A dog which went missing in Standish on Christmas Eve sparking a frantic search has made his way home for Christmas Day.
Little Reggie, the black and tan Dachshund, went missing while out on a stroll with his owners on Beech Walk yesterday afternoon when he became lost.
After an initial search, a social media appeal went out prompting a flurry of sightings of Reggie as darkness drew in - but they all proved to be a dead end.
But ahead of a search resuming this morning - with another sighting today - Reggie made his own way back home for Christmas, with his owners hearing him whimpering on their doorstep at 6.30am.
His owner said: “He was spotted early this morning wandering around Beech Walk. Lorraine went out to look for him, but she missed him and he found his way home, wandering into the back garden and crying at the back door around 6.30am!
“He’s had some food and is now having a bath. He seems to be unscathed, thank God!
“Thank you so so so much to every single person that helped try to find him yesterday, from our friends and family to the amazing residents of Standish and beyond who we don’t even know who came out on a Christmas Eve to try and find the little fella.
“We will forever be grateful to you all.
“Please can everyone share this post so people know he has been found. And can every single one of you have an amazing Christmas, and once again, thank you ❤️!”
Great news, thanks to everyone on Standish Voice and other pages for sharing the initial post. Happy Christmas! 🎅

UPDATE RE LOCKDOWN

The guidelines for groomers have been updated making our restrictions tougher with there being more clarity around the wording of welfare.

I can now only groom a dog if it's on veterinary advice, skin condition or if the dog is excessively matted and causing them discomfort, until after the lockdown

I will unfortunately, have to cancel all grooms unless it's on a strict welfare basis eg your dog is badly matted. I may have to ask you to send pictures of the matts prior to grooming.

I know this is very frustrating, but I understand that we all need to play our part and stay at home so we can try and get this awful virus under control.

Hopefully this won't be for too long and in the meantime if you can continue to comb/brush your dogs. You can contact me at any time for advice.

As you can appreciate I have many people to contact, so please bare with me!

Take care and stay safe xx

2021 National Lockdown

Dog groomers all over the country are left stuck between a rock and a hard place over the new announcement made by Mr Johnson on the 4th January 2021.

The official statement from the government under the category businesses that can remain open is:

‘Animal Rescue Centres, Boarding Facilities and animal groomers (May continue to be used for animal welfare, rather than aesthetic purposes)’

Now this statement, particularly the word ‘welfare’ is very much open to interpretation.

Some may say ‘welfare’ is regular visits to the dog groomer whilst others might say it would be emergency reasons only.

So, my wonderful clients, I am torn.
I would love this all to be over sooner rather than later therefore feel that by closing would support my community and NHS by us all sticking together and staying home. However I understand that in some cases your dog may really need to come visit me.

I’ve decided that the best way to go forward would be to leave it up to you.

If you feel that your dog will be able to miss an appointment and therefore not have an effect to his or hers welfare then please feel free to cancel your appointment.
(Please note that I will always be available to contact for brushing tips and any other queries you may have).

If you feel that missing an appointment will have an effect on your dog’s welfare then I will continue with the appointment with the same current covid practices that I have in place.

So if you have an appointment in the next 6 weeks I ask that you please contact me via direct message and let me know how you would like to proceed.

Thank you for your support.

Please take care and stay safe.

GOOD NEWS!

I have just been given permission to continue working from Wigan Council and Environmental Health under the new Government guidelines that states:
“Animal grooming facilities may also stay open but must only be used for the purposes of the animal’s welfare (and not for aesthetic purposes)” - meaning no fancy trims, colouring or simple bath. Short haired dogs aren’t necessarily essential unless they suffer from over growing nails that must be trimmed back for comfort, or skin conditions that must continue with their regular appointments to prevent flare ups.

I am booked up until the end of the year, and all customers who have an appointment will be contacted over the coming weeks to confirm the time and date and check they are Covid free.

I will continue with social distanced hand-overs at the gate and ask that you please ensure you arrive at the stated time for drop off and pick up. This is essential to ensure I can adhere to all Covid safety measures.

I am so looking forward to seeing you all again soon!

03/11/2020

Hi everyone just to give you an update.
I have been in touch with the Council to see if I am allowed to stay open, especially as I work alone at home and have all the required Covid safety measures in place including socially distanced handover outside. As yet I am still waiting for a definitive answer, until then I will be closing on Thursday. If anything changes I will let you know. Stay safe 🌈

12/05/2020

I am pleased to announce that I am now able to re-open this week. I will be following the Pet Industry Federation's guidelines and putting extra measures in place, along with stricter cleaning and sanatising to ensure everyone is as safe as possible.

If you have already had a booking or have previously contacted me, I will be calling you soon to make a new booking. This will be in the order that they were cancelled ie; the pooches that have been waiting the longest, first to be booked. Please bear with me as I have a lot of customers to contact!

To ensure there is no human contact and a two metre social distance is adhered to, drop off and pick up of your dog will be done at the gate.

If you or any of your family are unwell, please contact me so we can re-arrange the appointment.

I look forward to seeing you and your gorgeous (but probably hairy!) pooches soon.🐾💞🌈

30/04/2020

Hi everyone... just an update as I have been receiving many messages about when am I re-opening as other groomers are opening. As of yet the government guidelines haven’t changed, and I’m waiting for the update from The Government on May 7th, hopefully some restrictions will be lifted, like the “essential travel” clause, which is preventing people to drive their dogs to the grooming salon.

All procedures and guidelines are in place for when the restrictions are lifted ie. social distancing and PPE to keep my clients, their dogs and myself safe.

I know this is a tough time for your doggies, some are getting pretty matted, but please keep using your slicker brush then comb after. If dogs are matted we may have to shave down and start again.

Hopefully things will change soon and I can re-open. Please stay safe and take care of yourself & your dogs 💙💜💙
