🐾 🐾 As alot of people are aware the new Deadpool vs Wolverine movie by Marvel Studios has just been released, but Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are not the stars of the show by far! Meet Peggy, apparently she was voted the ugliest dog in the world in 2023. I personally think she's well cute. She has stolen the show both at the premiere and moviegoers hearts! Check that tongue out! Awwww 🐾 🐾

🐾 🐾 Martyn and his new puppy Fletcher paid a visit to The White Horse Disley yesterday he is gorgeous!! 15 weeks old. Don't worry he wasn't out in the sun! 🐾 🐾 The weather is heating up again, here is a simple and cheap recipe for a nice/ice cool treat for your dogs in this heat. REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR DOG IS NOT ALLERGIC TO ANY OF THE INGREDIENTS LISTED BELOW. IF UNSURE SEEK ADVICE FROM YOUR VET.

Strawberry & Banana Ice Cream for Dogs

INGREDIENTS.

- 2 Ripe Bananas
- 1 cup of Strawberries, hulled and chopped
- 1/2 cup of greek yoghurt for creaminess
- 1 tablespoon of honey

PREPARATION.

1. Prepare the fruits: Peel Bananas and chop into small piece's, take green tops off the strawberries (hull) and chop into small pieces. Throw away green tops.

2. Freeze the fruits: Place the banana chunks and strawberry piece's in a single layer on a baking tray with parchment paper. Freeze for 2 hours until frozen solid.

3. Blend the ingredients in a blender or food processor strawberries, bananas, greek yoghurt and honey. Blend until smooth and creamy. You might have to stop and scrape the sides down a couple of times.

4. You can now serve! If you want a firmer texture. Transfer to an air tight container and freeze for an additional 1-2 hours.

Serving:

A couple of spoonfuls is enough depending on the size of your dog.

REMEMBER IN THIS WEATHER TO KEEP YOUR DOG HYDRATED WITH FRESH WATER, AND OFFER SHADED PLACES OR COOL MATS / JACKETS SO YOUR DOG CAN KEEP COOL. ALSO LIMIT WALKS TO EARLY MORNING OR LATE EVENINGS WHEN ITS COOLER. HEATSTROKE IS A MAJOR KILLER FOR OUR CANINE PALS. 🐾 🐾

🎈 🎈 Happy Birthday! Downtown Dogs is 1 today yay! I would like to thank all my customers past and present for all their support! Plus the fellow dog walkers and sitters who have helped me to get through my first year! Its been tough at times but mostly a blast, and i am looking forward to the future, as exciting things are planned (look out for special announcements on here)! 🐾 🐾 The weather is great, finally summer has arrived, but its not so great for our four legged friends. Please keep your dogs indoors to avoid overheating. HEATSTROKE IS FATAL TO ANIMALS. If you need to do the important weekly shop please leave your dogs at home and not take them in your car to the supermarket. Limit walks to small ones and provide plenty of fresh water to rehydrate your pooch. Providing paddling pools, cooling vests and mats also help to keep your pooch cool. Walking dogs on tarmac or asphalt can also burn your pets paws so please be very careful. Below is a picture outlining advice given by RSPCA in these extreme temperatures 🐾 🐾

🐾 🐾 Had a lovely evening last night I took Leo to visit my friend in Stockport after a routine visit to the vets. We stopped off for a quick drink at The Arden Arms Pub Stockport. Geoff and Marie Troughton are fabulous hosts and they now offer doggy ice cream to all our furry friends. Lovely pub with a great area at the back for dogs to potter about in, obviously another highly recommended and 100% dog friendly pub 5 🌟 btw the dog ice cream is carrot, apple and banana flavoured and comes from barke farm and is priced at £3.25 great for cooling your pooches down in this hot weather. As you can see Leo throughly enjoyed it! They also have a great food menu for us humans too, shame we missed serving times, but there will be a next time. Thanks Geoff and Marie 🐾 🐾

🐾 🐾 It's time to update and do a refresher in my canine first aid course. This year I'm going to upgrade my knowledge by studying the level 4 advanced course, plus I'm looking to do a practical hands on course. I am also studying:

Animal Care CPD Level 4 advanced
Pet Nutrition CPD Level 4 advanced
Pet Emergency CPD Level 3
Dog training CPD Level 3

And I'm also doing a dog walking and sitting business CPD Level 3 course, to help my business grow.

All these courses will give me the knowledge so you will always know your dog will be in safe hands. So its back to the classroom 😆 🐾 🐾

🐾 🐾 ADVICE FOR ADULT DOGS, FOR PUPPIES ALWAYS CONSULT YOUR VETERINARY PRACTICE.

The gut flora found within your dogs stomach is extremely important for your dogs well being, not keeping an eye on your dogs p**p can result in serious conditions that can possibly lead to disease or serious life threatening conditions. Below is a chart to help assess if toilet time is healthy for your dog. Enjoy these top tips too:

1.) If your dog appears constipated I recommend changing immediately from dry kibble to wet food. Naturo Natural Pet Food is a good choice for wet as it contains all natural ingredients and vegetables. (Always remember phase in new foods as it might do the opposite effect and cause your dog to vomit, have diarrhoea or get bloat.) IF UNSURE OR YOUR NOT USING DRY KIBBLE ALWAYS SEEK VETERINARY ADVICE.

2.) If your dog is suffering from diarrhoea. The best thing is to reset your dogs gut flora. To do this feed your dog boiled chicken and plain white rice. (If your dog has a chicken allergy white fish is also good to feed to your dog.) This should settle down within a few days of a bland diet. If it doesn't try adding a supplement of pre and probiotics to your dogs diet. There are several products on the market but I highly recommend Pro Kolin, it rebuilds your dogs gut flora (Always follow the instructions and administer the amount shown for your dogs weight.) unsweetened natural yoghurt can also help but be careful how much you give your dog they only need a tiny amount. If you decide to try this route or use Pro Kolin ALWAYS SEEK ADVICE FROM A NUTRITIONIST OR VETERINARY EXPERT. (Also regards diarrhoea make sure there is plenty of fresh water available so your dog doesn't become dehydrated. (Dehydration is one of the biggest killers of dogs.)

IF THERE IS ANY BLOOD VISABLE WITHIN YOUR DOGS P**P ALWAYS TAKE YOUR DOG IMMEDIATELY TO YOUR VETERINARY PRACTICE.

The above two methods are of my opinion, and what i have been recommended in the past both by nutritionists and the vets. Each dog is different and If you are unsure. ALWAYS SEEK PROFESSIONAL ADVICE FROM YOUR VET PRACTICE.

IGNORING YOUR DOGS GUT HEALTH CAN BE FATAL!

Also check your dogs p**p for foreign objects, such as worms, hair or any other foreign objects. If you find any of these always consult your vet for advice 🐾 🐾

🐾 🐾 As previously mentioned. I use a great company for Pet supplements, shampoos and colognes. Bugalugs Pet Care. They have developed a shampoo and spray to rid your dog of those pesky pests this summer (fleas and ticks). It contains neem oil which is a natural deterrant and also promotes healthy skin and coats. Both these products are Vegan, PH balanced, tested on humans not animals and are made with Lake District Water. If your having an ongoing problem with the little blighters I always advise to seek veterinary advice also. 🐾 🐾 Two great places to visit in Disley which are 100% dog friendly and within easy access to Lyme Park, Peak Forest Canal and other Peak District walks. The Ram's Head, Disley - This is a gastro pub in the heart of the village with a huge back garden great for your dogs to play. Amazing food, good selection of beers, wines, spirits and extremely friendly staff. Water and dog treats also available FREE of charge! The other place is The White Horse Disley. Geoff and Diane are amazing hosts plus they are a dog owner. They have great homemade food with regular specials and a designated dog area where you can take your furry friend, plus as an added bonus they have a huge outside area where you can eat alfresco. I give both pubs a huge 10/10 and a 5 🌟 rating. Highly recommended! 🐾 🐾
