Poor River has been waiting so long for a home and we can’t understand why as he’s just the sweetest boy and all he wants is a lap to curl up on!

River is 7 years old and arrived in RSPCA care earlier this year having been signed over by his previous owners as they were unable to meet his needs. River has flea allergy dermatitis, a common condition in many cats that requires a regular, prescription flea treatment to keep it at bay. When left untreated it can cause fur loss, severe itching and inflamed skin. Thankfully River is happy and healthy and is just patiently waiting for a family of his own.

Initially, River found the cattery environment quite daunting. He was easily spooked by sudden noises and very unsure of the unfamiliar sights and smells. It didn’t take him long to settle into our routine and we quickly found the way to his heart was through food! River is really clever and we now feed him with a variety of complex feeding puzzles – all of which he has mastered! He is also very good at giving us the ‘Puss in boots big eyes’ when it comes to feeding time!

He is a big lad, weighing over 6kg but he’s an absolute gentle giant. He loves attention and company. River happily sleeps next to us on a chair whilst we're working and if we sit down he will hop onto our knee and go to sleep. His favourite toy is his feather wand toy and once that appears he transforms into a playful kitten. He will jump around after it and is highly adept at snatching it out of the air. He moves like furry lightning!

River was adopted recently but returned after a mere two weeks through no fault of his own. He seems sad to have found himself back in a cattery so we are hoping he will find his forever home very soon. His new owner will need to be aware that River takes time to adapt to unfamiliar environments. He will need a quiet room to begin with where he can find his feet at his own pace. He is a very clean boy and prefers to separate his ‘business’ so he will need two litter trays. His adopter will need to be patient and allow him time to adjust to his new family and surroundings. Once he’s settled he is the most wonderful, affectionate boy you could ever wish to meet.

He has shown lots of interest in the kittens we have here so we think he could possibly live with another cat providing slow introductions but no dogs. He can live with children 8+ as long as they are respectful of his space. We would love him to have a safe outdoor space, well away from busy roads to explore for when he is feeling more confident.

***SPECIAL APPEAL***

Fliss or Little Miss Fliss as her foster carer affectionately calls her, came into RSPCA care in September last year after being found as a stray in awful condition. She had large patches of fur loss and was covered in sores, infested with fleas, suffering from anaemia and was severely underweight. Poor Fliss then gave birth to 3 kittens so she became a mum on top of everything she was already going through. This sweet girl has shown such resilience throughout her time with us and we'd love to find her the forever home she so deserves.
Fliss has many of the typical Bengal traits; she's chatty, playful and very intelligent, she likes to play in her water bowl and she LOVES to climb, and has taken a particular interest in sitting on top of her foster carer's bookshelf! She has incredible hunting reflexes which she loves to display when playing with her wand toys. In her downtime, she will sit on your knee for a quick cuddle.
Once her kittens were weaned, the vets were able to start investigating the cause of her skin condition and trialling different treatments. She was moved to a foster home in January where she has absolutely thrived! Her dedicated foster carer has worked tirelessly to manage her symptoms and the transformation in her has been remarkable. She's now a healthy weight and her coat is beautiful.
Fliss is now on a combination of a hypoallergenic hydrolysed food and a medication called Atopica. Adopters will need to be aware that she will need to continue the medication and be prepared to work closely with their vet to find the lowest effective dose for her. The initial cost of her medication, which is an oral liquid, works out around £39 per month online plus the cost of the prescription from your vet. This is with daily doses. The cost will likely reduce as the vet slowly reduces the frequency of the medication in order to find the lowest effective dose. For many cats two doses a week is sufficient but finding the right level will take time and will be individual to her. Her food costs a maximum of £25 per month and is easy to order online. She is very tolerant of taking her medication and has been so good throughout all of her veterinary visits.
Fliss is looking for a home with an experienced Bengal owner who will provide her with all the stimulation she needs to stay happy and healthy. Unfortunately, due to the medication she is on, Fliss is unable to have free roaming access outdoors. Her new home will need to be a spacious property and ideally where she will have access to a cat wheel, catio or a contained garden with Protect a pet fencing (or similar) fitted. She would really love a safe enclosed space where she could spend time outside. Fliss is not keen on other cats so she needs to be the only pet in the home. She can live with children 8+.
If you think you could offer her forever home she's waited so long for, then please fill in our online application form:

Tink is a 4 year old black and white beauty that has sadly been waiting for a home at one of our other centres for 4 months. She has been ever so patient in waiting to be chosen so we've moved her to Stockport in the hopes we can find her that forever home she's dreaming of.

Tink loves human company and she is straight onto your knee before you have barely sat down, purring contentedly and nudging your hand asking for gentle face strokes. The only trouble is, she sometimes doesn't like being moved once she's comfy! Tink was a little worried when she first arrived and would give the occasional hiss or swipe when she wasn't happy with something but this was just her communicating her boundaries.

Tink is a very playful girl and is a keen footballer! Balls are her favourite type of toy and she loves to bat them about and will try and catch them when you throw them for her. She fancies joining the lionesses as the next England goalkeeper!

Tink will likely need to start off in one room where she can feel secure and then start to explore the rest of the house when she is feeling more comfortable. Tink has shown us quite clearly that she does not like other cats but we are unsure how she would react to a dog. She can live with children of secondary school age and needs a home away from busy roads where she can get back to the outdoor adventures she enjoyed in her previous home.

Buffy has been keeping up with the Olympics while waiting for her fur-ever home!

Estimated to be around 5 years old, Buffy found herself in RSPCA care after the unfortunate passing of her previous owner. It’s clear that she was well cared for and very well loved, as her fur is silky smooth and has a beautiful glossiness to it. This neatly-tuxedo’ed girl is currently in care with one of our fosterers and wasted no time getting herself comfortable there!
Buffy knows what she likes and, quite often, that’s a good snooze. She very quickly claimed a comfy spot on the pouffe as her own, and will spend much of the day napping there whilst her human caretakers work. She has a bit of an independent streak and doesn’t mind keeping to herself whilst the usual day-to-day activities are carried out. Once people sit near her on the sofa, however, Buffy will make her way over to make some thorough blanket biscuits on any available laps, contently purring away. Her snuggly side begins to develop as she feels more settled in her environment. She’s an affectionate girl who generally likes said affection to be on her terms and checked with consent-based interactions, giving a no-claw paw bop if she’s more in the mood to be left to her own devices.
Buffy has shown signs of a hearing impairment whilst in care which may be playing into why she values having control over her personal space. Rousing her from (her usually very deep) sleep through vibrations instead of touch is a polite way to get her attention - don’t be offended if she doesn’t turn her head when you call! Despite this Buffy is a confident girl and finds her feet in new spaces quickly. Though she hasn’t shown much interest in playing with her foster carer so far, she loves helping herself to the allocated toy tub. It’s a fun little mystery to see which one she’ll grab next - her foam ball and small spring toy are the favourites, which Buffy chases around the dining room until she’s all zoomied out!
This little lady full of character will be better suited to a home without other cats or dogs where she can be the main attraction. Buffy could live with children 11 years old or older, who understand she’ll set boundaries and respect her request for space. She would be suited as an indoor-only cat given her impaired hearing (and love of sleep!), however, a secure garden for her to nosy around in under supervision would be lovely.

This lovely, soppy boy is Atlas! He’s very comfortable in foster care at the moment, and can’t wait to find his new family. Could it be you?
Atlas is around 3 years old and, though found straying, is believed to be an abandonment case. This gorgeous boy’s eyes are almost as big as his round, tomcat head, and he uses them skilfully to ask for polite pets. He’s soft and sweet and we’re sure he’ll fit right into his new home like he’s always been there!
Change and new environments are a little daunting for Atlas. He finds comfort in hiding away at first, finding a safe corner somewhere he’ll be undisturbed while he adjusts. Once he’s taken the bit of time he needs to process, Atlas is very clearly a boy that likes affection. He’ll purr and push his head right into your hand, and likes to settle with his foster carer in bed of an evening. He likes to accompany his foster carer most places she goes in fact! Atlas tends to play shadow round the house, enjoying human company and ever hopeful for more strokes. He’s quite a chatterbox and runs to the door as welcoming committee when people arrive home!
One of Atlas’ favourite spots is his hammock bed at the top of his cat tree. He is, in fact, just a bit too big for his hammock bed - but he’ll happily lounge there during the day and reach out with kneading paws in greeting when he spots you. He’s a bit of a food fiend and any treats will need to be secured away, as his self-control is nonexistent! His foster carer has found him to be one of the most loving cats they’ve cared for, and we’d love to find him a family he can continue to share his love with.
This gentle giant of a cat would suit a home with no other pets, where children are aged 8+ due to his initial nervous tendencies. Once he’s found his paws and settled in, Atlas would love a safe and secure outdoor space to explore his corner of the world, before returning home to lots of fuss.
Are you missing an Atlas-shaped friend beside you? Please fill in one of our online application forms: https://forms.gle/Cm5GkaKu2cGDZWi59

Jet (male, bigger) & Jupiter (female, smaller) are two super sleek 2 year olds. They were entrusted into RSPCA care following the passing of their owner, and their temperaments show how loved they were in their previous home. They’ve settled into foster care quite comfortably and are now ready for adoption, patiently awaiting the news that they’ve found their new family! Could they be a part of yours?

Jet and Jupiter are both friendly, companionable cats. Jet in particular is, as his foster carer calls him, a big softie - he really enjoys human company and cuddling up to show his affection. He’s a beautiful black boy with dark chocolate tones to his fur, which becomes even more obvious when he’s catching some rays and sunbathing in the window! He can be a little more nervous than Jupiter to start and takes a bit of time to find his paws. Once he has, however, he’s a full-blown cuddlebug and a great companion. Catnip has been found to be one of his favourite things in foster care and a surefire way to get him excited.

Jupiter has more confidence from the get-go! She’s a notable explorer and likes to have a nosy of her surroundings, pottering off to do her own thing and satisfy her curiosity. She’s shown a particular fondness for the man in her foster home, though is a very friendly girl all-round. The vets have commented how lovely she is as she purrs whilst being vaccinated! She loves her cat scratcher and uses it any opportunity she gets, especially if it’s been peppered with catnip. They both like to play, though oftentimes preferring to play with toys and with their foster carer than with each other - so be ready to dual-wield stringy toys to keep these two entertained!

Jet and Jupiter would make a great couple of furry friends for a variety of families. They’ve shown positive interactions with the foster carer’s dog and so could live with a cat-friendly dog in their new home provided gradual introductions. They would need to be the only cats as they are comfortable sharing space with each other. They could live with children aged 8+ and older and once settled with their new family, would require a safe outdoor space to explore and enjoy.

Bundles of fun, coming through! 😻

Shuri and Tippy are two kittens from a litter of 4 that came into RSPCA care at just 1 day old after being born in a member of the public’s garden. Unfortunately, Mum couldn’t be located so they were brought into rescue. They were lovingly hand reared by a dedicated member of staff and have now grown to be sociable, friendly and very mischievous little kittens!

They are 3 months old and absolutely full of beans! Tippy is a gorgeous dark tortie with a little ginger tip at the end of her tail - hence the name! Tippy is probably the snuggliest of the litter, she loves to climb into your lap and stares adoringly into your eyes like she’s looking directly into your soul. She is also a keen wrestler and loves to play with her sister Shuri, the pair will charge around after each other for hours and it’s highly entertaining. Shuri is the most reserved of the litter, she loves interacting with her siblings but she would rather play than have cuddles. When she does hop in your lap though it’s even more special and she bursts into the loudest of purrs when you start stroking her. Tippy and Shuri are both excellent hunters, they’ve absolutely nailed the art of jumping up and catching their stringy toy in mid-air. These sisters totally adore one another and it really is so wonderful to watch them play and get into mischief together.

This duo are typical kittens; they have huge amounts of energy and they are into everything! Whilst in foster care they spent hours charging up and down the stairs playing chase and no nook or cranny was left un-sniffed - they wanted to investigate everywhere! Any adopters will need to be prepared to welcome a little chaos into their lives!

They do have their moments of calm where they will climb into your lap and fall asleep - purring contentedly but nap times are now a little more sporadic and interspersed with lots of playing. Those moments where they come for a cuddle are just wonderful, they are so sweet and endearing and they absolutely adore human companionship.

Shuri and Tippy are looking for a home together where any children are over the age of 8. They are still learning and have no control over their claws so please be mindful of this when applying - kittens will scratch when they’re learning to play! They can live with an existing young and playful cat that won’t mind two whirlwinds entering their home. They could potentially live with a calm cat-friendly dog providing slow introductions are carried out. The girls have already shown lots of interest in the great outdoors whilst in their foster home so a home where they can have a garden to explore would be ideal. They are still on regular feeds so any adopters will need to be home every 4-5 hours to ensure their tummies are kept full until they get a little older.

If you think you meet all the above criteria and would love to welcome a little fun into your lives, please fill in an application form: https://forms.gle/Cm5GkaKu2cGDZWi59

Please note, we are only a small team and as such we are only able to contact successful applicants.

***Reserved***

Meet our little flower queen, Miss Petal! 🌸 Petal is a beautiful tabby and white girl who is around 1 year old. Petal arrived into the care of the RSPCA after being found as a stray. Sadly she was not microchipped and no one has come forward to claim her.
Petite Petal was so very frightened when she first arrived at the cattery and would hiss in fear when approached. She must have been so confused! She was wary of sudden noises or movements and, even as she began to settle, would react with a clawless swipe if she felt threatened. She’s very cautious of being approached from above and behaves defensively in response to this. Her safe space was her igloo bed and she spent a lot of time in there - but would pop out to say hello as she grew more comfortable and ask the staff for a fuss.
Petal was moved to a foster home and since being there she has come on leaps and bounds. She follows her fosterer from room to room and sits expectantly next to her toys to let her foster carer know when she wants to play! As a young cat, Petal is incredibly playful and loves having playtime. Stringy toys are a favourite, but she will roll around on the floor quite happily with many different types. Petal also adores lick-e-lix treats and they have been a wonderful way to build her trust. She currently shows her affection by rubbing round her foster carer’s legs and will come when called. Her fur is incredibly soft and sleek.
Petal needs a quiet home with an experienced cat owner who will allow her to come to them when she is ready. Despite the fantastic progress she has made in foster care, Petal is still wary of noise and general goings-on and needs time to grow more comfortable with this. She will need a dedicated sanctuary room to start off in - somewhere she can feel safe before exploring the rest of her environment, and return to when overwhelmed. Once she’s settled in and found her feet she’ll show what a wonderful little cat she really is.
Petal would be best suited to a home where children are at least of secondary school age and will respect her space. She may be able to live with another laidback cat, providing introductions are carried out gradually - she’s shown positive interest in a visiting lookalike cat that says hello through the front window! A dog-free home would be preferable, and access to a safe outdoor space is a must.
Petal is a sweet little lady and so deserving of a lovely home. Could it be with you? Simply fill in our online application form: https://forms.gle/Cm5GkaKu2cGDZWi59

Sally loves her strokes - and very politely asks us to keep going if she's not had enough 🥺 We'd love to find a loving home for this darling girl. Please share and help us look if you can!

Sally was brought into the RSPCA after being found as a stray. She is a sweet little lady who will tug on your heart-strings! We don’t have any idea of what she may have been through or how old she is, but it's safe to say that she’s definitely a senior citizen.

Sally enjoys the simple things in life. She loves to nap most of the day away in her snuggly bed. We have to approach her carefully when she’s in her sleepy state because she has impaired hearing and doesn’t hear us approach. Usually a very gentle stroke, just to let her know you are there is the polite thing to do (and avoids startling her!).

She can be very playful and spritely when the mood takes her. She enjoys pouncing on her feathered wand toy in short bursts… before it’s time for her next nap! Poor Sally doesn’t have very many teeth left but she doesn't let that slow her gallop. She is very partial to her wet food but only if it’s in gravy. This lady knows what she likes. Despite her lack of teeth she's never shy about polishing off a Dreamie or two and doesn’t struggle to eat her dry food.

While she is generally a very quiet cat, Sally will occasionally summon her human servants with a single loud meow. Usually when she would like to be stroked or if she would like us to lift her down from her cat tree for a bit of exploring. She loves a fuss around her head and cheeks but prefers her back end to be left out of it. If you are stroking her and stop before she’s had her fill she sometimes politely touches your hand with her paw and guides it back to her head. It’s one of the sweetest things we have ever seen and we are all completely besotted with her.

Sally is looking for a quiet, relaxed home environment without other animals and with someone who will provide all of the creature comforts and cuddles that her heart desires. She could potentially live with children 14 years plus. She is suitable to live as an indoor cat but a home with a secure garden to potter about should she wish it would also be beneficial. We would recommend that any of her time outside is closely supervised to ensure she doesn’t wander onto any roads as she won't be able to hear cars coming.

If you think you could be a loving companion to this gorgeous girl and see her into her twilight years, please fill in an application form:
