Barbs often get a bad name in this game, mostly thanks to the somewhat boisterous Tiger Barb. But did you know, not all barbs are deserving of such reputation? Cherry Barbs, Snakeskin Barbs and Pentazona Barbs just to name a few make great additions to the aquarium with their peaceful and gregarious disposition. The bold, defined striped markings of Tiger Barbs are definitely hard to beat. But how about these as a worthy alternative? African Banded Barbs are a real boujee barb. Their patterns closely resemble that of a fearsome Tiger, but their gentle and friendly nature makes them a real contender! They'll top out at around 6cm, making them a good choice for small and larger tanks alike. They're a very active fish and best kept in groups of 6+ to really see them at their best. Originally found across the green belt of Central Africa, these little gems are now captive bred and well accustomed to aquarium life. They'll feel more at home with plenty of plants, wood and branch like decor too. Feeding is no issue either with flake, pellet and frozen foods all accepted eagerly.
