Emma is the Branch Co-ordinator at our Hexham surgery and joined us back in 2021. Emma keeps things ticking along in reception at our Hexham surgery and keeps our team right!

Emma is kept busy with her two cocker spaniels Ziggy and Charlie and wanders the countryside in her spare time!

Join us in welcoming Robert Pattinson, MRCVS, who joins our team of veterinary surgeons.

Robert had a short stint with us back in 2016 as a locum vet, but has laid his roots back in his home county. Robert qualified back in 2011 so brings good experience to the practice. He has a special interest in Laparoscopic surgery and is currently getting used to our equipment.

Meet the team Mondays 🩺💚

Penny joined us back in 2007 and recently celebrated 18 years with us!

Penny works mainly from our Stocksfield branch these days and has over 20 years experience in administration. We have always said only Jesse James has faster hands than Penny who types so fast the letters on the keys fade away!

Penny is kept busy with her lovely working cocker spaniel, Woody, and her two cats, Alfie & Hamish!

Did you know that no two cats have identical coats? Meaning that every cat you see (that has fur anyway!) has a unique coat?!

Cris has been with us for almost 19 years! Many of you know Cris who has worked mainly at our Stocksfield branch over the years. Back in 2019, Cris won 'Veterinary receptionist of the year' at the annual BVRA awards, a thoroughly deserving winner.

Cris has become a Grandma twice over in the last few years so along with her lovely Labrador 'Hattie', she is kept plenty busy as a Grandma and a dog mum!

Meet the team Mondays

Graham Skelton, Finance & Marketing Manager

Graham joined us back in 2015 as a Client Care Advisor, before moving up to Branch Co-ordinator, Assistant Manager, and then finally onto Finance & Marketing! Graham looks after our social media, website and all things digital! Approaching 10 years at Orchard House Vets, Graham is the 7th longest serving member in our team of 26!

Although not seen as often around the practice anymore, many of you will remember Graham from his days on reception, and we are certain you will have heard plenty of tales of his Border Terrier, Poppy, who is now 12 years old, and he assures us just as "radgie".

Little Ivy was in the practice for her first vaccinations recently! In a couple of weeks she will get her second vaccination and soon after that will be able to get on the ground with other pups and dogs!! 💚

Claire Finnigan, Assistant Manager

Claire joined Orchard House Vets in 2004 as a Client Care Manager, before going on to become Practice Manager in 2008. Claire has worked in the veterinary sector since school as she began a Saturday job caring for animals as part of her Duke of Edinburgh award. Claire changed her role in 2021 to assistant manager in order to spend more time with her young son, Archie. Claire is our longest serving member of staff with 20 years of service to Orchard House Vets, many of you know her as she is a familiar face here at Orchard!

Little Martha was in for her vaccinations recently! - We absolutely love seeing our team bond with our wonderful patients. Emma tells us that posing for a photo with a puppy is a tough task, but someone has to do it! 😂😍🐾

Finding the right balance of how much food to give a puppy or kitten is quite the challenge. Some foods you need to give more of, some less, wet food should be an accompaniment and you should reduce the weight of the dry food against the weight of the wet food....ARGHHH!!

Our latest blog looks at how to maintain your puppy or kittens weight. Don't forget, we are here to help! Our Veterinary Nurses can advise you on diets and perform weight checks during a consultation. It is also a good idea to pop in if you are passing with your puppy to jump on the scales as we keep a record of their weight. It's also a chance to come into the vets without having "treatment" done, and to get lots of attention from our team!

Angela Upshon, Practice Manager

Angela joined us in 2021 as Practice Manager. Although Angela grew up locally and went to school here in Hexham, she spent many years in Cape Town owning a business with her husband and raising her family, before returning to the Tyne Valley in 2017. Angela has over 30 years experience working in management and marketing in a variety of industries. Angela has adopted many stray cats over the years and feels at home with Orchard House Vets!
