Wishing all our followers, friends, family and owners a very Merry Christmas.
We've had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people that we wouldn't have met otherwise.
Look how handsome and proud Toto (was Romeo) is of his latest catch! He loves hunting washing up sponges and whatever you are eating....
Aggie is in call and has been for the last 3 days! This noise is relentless, almost 24 hours a day and you can hear it outside my house. This is part of the reality of breeding cats. Aggie is too young to breed, but the call cycles continue regardless.
Registered breeders are required to ensure that their breeding cats are of good health, personality and at least 1 year old before birthing kittens and have no more than 3 litters from one queen in a 2 year period. There are exceptions to these rules if the health of a cat requires it.
When our girls are in call, but not being bred from at that time, we have to keep our stud cats away from them, and often times our other females. Stud cats don't like this, they can hear a female calling and want to go and provide a service, they get understandably grumpy.
I'm betting that all of you have heard the 'adopt don't shop' strap line. I agree with this sentiment, but it doesn't fit for everyone. Everyone that buys a pedigree kitten has their own reasons for doing so.
This is where breeders are tarred with the wrong brush.
Registered breeders are not responsible for the thousands of cats that end up in rescue. The fault of this remains unequivocally with the back street breeder. The person who wants to let their cat have 1 litter, or doesn't agree with neutering. Faced with the noise above, and the spraying of urine, these people let their cats out, or they escape, to be mated by whichever Tom cats are in the area, none of which have been carefully chosen or given a full bill of health. Cats can start calling at 6 months of age, it's noisy, stressful and smelly.
Registered breeders will always be there for their kittens, we carefully select the new owners for our kittens and offer ongoing and full back up should situations change. I myself have refused to sell some individuals my kittens, i know other breeders have doen the same This therefore stops many pedigree cats ending up in shelters (some will still end up there
Double trouble! Olive and Willow are as thick as thieves!
Ive had a couple of people asking about cat wheels recently, Cazami Cat Exercise Wheel is the only one that I recommend. We have all heard the horror stories of wheels coming off their runners and seriously injuring cats, or disk damage to cats backs. These wheels are huge and specifically designed to not place any pressure on your cats back and do not come off their runners during use.
All of my Orientals and siamese use the wheel, but Eddie is their biggest fan, and is solid muscle as a result.
These wheels are expensive, but worth it for the obvious enjoyment they provide my cats and their safety record.
Video below is Otis (Lucy and Ed's first litter).
Thanks for the video Diane x
kitten claws
Apparently I'm now a sibling substitute! Kitten claws and teeth are sharp!
Just a reminder that all my kittens are brought up with kids and dogs, including this oversized puppy!
My last week with all the babies, before they go to join their lovely new families.
Listen to those purrs 😍
Who's that girl? It's Tiny Tim! Tim is doing really well after being poorly. She's putting on weight nicely. What she lacks in size, she makes up for with personality! #orientalkitten #orientalcat #orientalshorthair #siamesekitten #siamesecat
