🐾Carlos🐾

Tonight I got to meet Carlos, I got tagged in a post of his owner asking for help with the owner having autism, it causes them to be easily frustrated which can have a massive impact on your dog and how they behave. Carlos needed help with his on lead walking and barking and pulling to get to another dog in a friendly way. When taking Carlos out, I did so on my own and after a few minutes he was walking lovely and following commands and even sat and calmly watched a dog playing with their ball. I have made a plan to continue taking Carlos out on my own to get the training in place and then join with the owner and begin teaching them how to continue Carlos’ training in order to help the relieve the frustration. Can't find the time for training?

Did you know that the dogs do better when training sessions are kept short and sweet compared to lengthy sessions at a time.

A couple of 3-5 minute sessions in a day compared to one hour long session is going to give you better results.

Cannot find 3 minutes in a day? Have a go at Kettle Training! 🫖

So as some people know I have had a lot of trouble with my big girls on lead walking, with her being my first dog I trained her just off the lead (big mistake) as I now know trying to walk a 40 kilo pulling machine is impossible! WRONG - putting in the work, changing her harness to the collar and what a difference it makes. There is no such thing as a perfect dog they all have their problems but if you put in as much time and energy you will see results 🐾

Reine and Winnie are happy girls after having their licki mats as spoken about in my previous post and mogwai has some in a bowl as she struggles a little bit with the mats 🐶

Enrichment 🙌

You will see a massive change in your pup or dog just by introducing enrichment toys such as licki mats, snuffle mats or puzzle games. Just 20 minutes on these alone is the equivalent to an hours walk as it works their brain not just their body.

With the licki mats you can put anything you like on them, here I have just spread some natural peanut butter and put it in the freezer to last that bit longer. Things like natural and Greek yogurt, banana, blueberries, veggie purées and peanut butter (xylitol free) are great to spread on your licki mats 🐶

Back to see Tiny today, she has done soo well, she is a lot happier walking and Is even going off to explore the outside world 🌳 next steps are to continue to encourage her walking as well as focusing more on her general obedience 🐶

Went to meet Woody today, his owner needed some help with his lead work and pulling. By the end of the session Woody was walking a lot better, just need to keep up the training and I will be back to see him soon 🐾

My assessment fee - this is for me to come and say hello, meet your dog and discuss their needs and any goals you have for you dog as well as any unwanted behaviours or issues you maybe having, I can take you through my plan of action and answer any and all questions you may have for me. This also allows me to see what your dog can already do, so we can tailor our sessions around your dog.

I met with this gorgeous lady yesterday, lily has some protective and barking issues due to a bad past before her owners got her, her owners would also like to be able to socialise her in the hopes of being able to introduce a new dog into the home 🏡 we have some work to do and will be a long journey but hopefully a positive outcome 🐾

I will always give my honest opinion, the owners were happy to continue with me and I will do everything I can to help them. If I feel like I have exhausted all of my resources and have tried everything, I will not just leave you stuck, I will help you find another dog trainer that has some expertise in the area you need.

Had a lovely visit with Diego and his owners today, wanting help with nibbling, settling in his home and general obedience. This little one has my work cut out for me but I can’t wait to get started 🐾
