One of my last releases. Lovely to see her making use of the new feeding station. Thanks to Nicola for looking after her back in the wild 😊

It's a global campaign to make towns and urban areas a nicer place for humans and nature alike.

A wild corner of garden is the perfect way of creating an ideal habitat to encourage more biodiversity into our towns...

The Future Is Unmown

30/09/2024

Not a post I thought I'd be making.
Due to personal circumstances, I'm afraid I have to close the doors of the rescue. I'm moving out of the area so can't continue my work here. It's been exciting, hard work, heartbreaking, fulfilling and everything in-between for the past 4 years. I've had the pleasure of getting to know some fabulous rehabbers, fosterers and hog lovers along the way. I have made some good friends and will be sad to say goodbye.
I want to thank everyone who has helped me along the way, everyone who has donated money and food and those who have made things to raise money.
I especially want to thank Liz, my 2nd in command and wish her all the best on her journey with caring for hogs in the future.
Money raised during the go fund me will be shared with other local hog rescues/fosters, as will my supplies.
If you have a hog in need in the Stockton area, please contact Cleveland Hedgehog Preservation Society who will have contact numbers of other rescues.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT β€οΈπŸ¦”πŸ¦”β€οΈ Carole

This is little Stainsby. Not a great start. Only 192g and found himself entangled in garden netting that was on the ground. It was wrapped so tight around his leg that it became very swollen (as you can see from the swollen foot). Now warming up and getting hydrated after some meds. Hopefully no lasting damage but it's important to monitor for a few days. Please lift your netting off the ground and if you find a creature entangled, take to a rescue and don't just release

Today we had a lovely big female brought to us that was lying outside its nest this morning. She was in good condition. Luckily, the nest was brought too. When you see the picture, you will see why she was lying out. I'm surprised she could even get in! In the "nest" Were at least two babies. All returned home with a hog house and straw to see if she might move her brood into bigger accommodation

Busy day today. Took 4 calls to take in hogs whilst doing the Norton Green Market this morning. One diverted and then the other 3 taken in. All very poorly. One baby with bad mange, a juvenile with thorny headed worm and another young adult full of roundworm. Fingers crossed they respond quickly to treatment. For those of a squeamish nature - look away. This is thorny headed worm under the microscope
