Addisons Liveries

Addisons Liveries We are the fifth generation of the Addison family which has farmed in Thornton on the Pennyman Estate. We run these yards together as Addisons Liveries.
(29)

Livery Yard offering Stabling, Grazing, Indoor Riding School, Outdoor Riding Schools, Lungeing Pens, 8km Off Road Rides, Cross Country Course, Woodland Rides.... We started taking liveries in 1971 and this additional enterprise has gradually expanded to become one of the foremost in the area. Our stable yards, grazing fields and facilities are divided between what once were three small, separate f

armsteads. These are at Thornton Low Moor Farm, Thornton High Moor Farm and Howls Nest. Our facilities have 24 hour supervision from our family team who are very experienced in every aspect of horse care.

🥶⛸️Please can everyone make sure to tip their waste water directly into the drain inlets rather than across the yards and to be careful not to overfill buckets. It’s going to get a lot colder this week and we’d hate for any unnecessary accidents. Thank you

Please can everybody familiarise themselves with rule 51 of the Highway Code and the British Horse Society’s recommendations for riding on the road at night. Whenever you ride on the roads you have a legal obligation to comply with the guidance set out. It would also be wise to be aware of the advice issued by the British Horse Society.

https://www.highwaycodeuk.co.uk/rules-about-animals-horse-riders.html

Highway Code rules about animals (47-58)

Highway Code Rule 49

Safety equipment. Children under the age of 14 MUST wear a helmet which complies with the Regulations. It MUST be fastened securely.
Other riders should also follow these requirements. These requirements do not apply to a child who is a follower of the Sikh religion while wearing a turban.
Laws H(PHYR) Act 1990, sect 1 & H(PHYR) Regulations 1992, reg 3

Highway Code Rule 50

Other clothing. You should wear
boots or shoes with hard soles and heels
light-coloured or fluorescent clothing in daylight
reflective clothing if you have to ride at night or in poor visibility.

Highway Code Rule 51

At night. It is safer not to ride on the road at night or in poor visibility, but if you do, make sure you wear reflective clothing and your horse has reflective bands above the fetlock joints. A light which shows white to the front and red to the rear should be fitted, with a band, to the rider’s right arm and/or leg/riding boot. If you are leading a horse at night, carry a light in your right hand, showing white to the front and red to the rear, and wear reflective clothing on both you and your horse. It is strongly recommended that a fluorescent/reflective tail guard is also worn by your horse.

16/10/2024

From Saturday 2nd November horses must be stabled overnight no later than 6.30pm. Winter turnout starts Sunday 3rd November from 10am. Please ensure that you have breakfast arrangements in place as all horses must have a feed or net before 8am. Also please let us know any turnout requirements for the week days? Thanks ❄️🐴

Rachel Horner is looking for a regular hacking partner/partners. To accompany a youngster round the tracks (roads once competent). Recently broken and is a little scared of the world, can spook but is not nasty. Won’t spin, bolt etc. Based on Low Moor but happy to walk over to the other yards in hand or meet somewhere halfway if not happy to come over to Low Moor.

Thank you!

🪱🪱Clevedale vets have requested that we deliver all F.E.C.s early on Monday 24th June for analysis🪱🪱
Please can everyone collect a bag and return samples to the farm houses on Sunday so that we can take them to Upleatham on Monday morning🪱🪱
This test service will be added to your bill @£11 per test.
Thank you

If you’re on a health plan with a different vet please arrange for a test so that we can have access to the information and have an overall picture of what the results are. This is important so that we can have the best advice for the treatment options.
