At the same time, we're excited to give our warmest welcome to our new Vet Amy, who has very recently joined the team. She's already slotted right in, and we are very excited to have her with us!💚

Dog and Cat obesity is a serious health issue caused by an imbalance of calories in versus calories out. This can lead to a shorter lifespan and increased risk of diseases like arthritis, diabetes and cancer.

To help manage it;

🐕Consult your vet for a health check where they can help to create a balanced diet plan.

🐾Engage in regular, age-appropriate exercise, including walks, games, and other activities.

🐈For indoor cats, find non-food-related ways to play, such as using toys or creating an indoor obstacle course.

🐾Consider adapted activities like hydrotherapy for pets with severe obesity.

Contact us on 01782 385285 or 01538 752117 for more advice or to book your pet in for a consultation 🐾

CHOCOLATE TOXICITY IN DOGS AND CATS

As we get closer to Christmas, more and more chocolate will be appearing in our homes. This unfortunately presents a high risk of chocolate toxicity in our beloved pals. 🍫

See our fact sheet below which highlights some key facts and symptoms to keep an eye out for. 👇

If you believe your pet has ingested any chocolate, phone your veterinary practice immediately for advice. 🏥

It will help the team to know what type of chocolate (keep the packaging if possible), the amount consumed, as well as the weight of your pet. 🐾

For any concerns or queries, please call us on 01782 385285 or 01538 752117 📱

🐾Zaks day at the vets❣️

Meet the very dashing Zak! A 4 year old Labrador who came to the vets for a heart scan and abdominal scan with our vet Pati whilst being looked after by our nurse Millie🥰

Zak was an absolute dream to have in practice - so we documented his time with us to allow others to see what a day at the vets could look like for their pooch having a scan with the team🩷

🩺 Zak was first admitted by our wonderful RVN Millie, where a heart rate, respiration rate, gum colour and refill time and temperature are taken. Reporting anything abnormal the vet.
🪒 The area that is needed to be scanned on Zak is then clipped and prepped by our team (with on this occassion some additional clipping half way through).
😇 The scanning procedure then takes place, sometimes pets may find this stressful so we can offer sedation to help the patient. However in Zaks case, he lay very still like an absolute angel.
🍗 Zak is then able to have a little leg stretch and toilet break our nurse Millie. Finishing off with some well deserved chicken. For a discharge time to then be arranged so Zak can get home.
