🥰
Our beautiful silver Labradors had their first vaccinations and health check yesterday.
Here they are with our lovely Vet Hannah and getting plenty of cuddles from Vet Nurse Anna. Bramble and Bear Vet Care.
Tumbles heard that Hannah and Matt will be off on annual leave from the 27th of August to the 16th of September! 😱
But don’t worry! We have the lovely locum Geert coming to join us who will be stepping in to treat all of your pets ❤️
This does mean that our out of hours will be transferred to an external provider during this time so Hannah and Matt can have some well deserved time off! 🏝️ ☀️
This weekend Hannah, Anna and her daughter Millie had a fun afternoon at the Animal Lifeline fundraiser 🐶 🤩
We even got to trial out our brand new gazebo!
It was lovely to see so many of our registered pets and chat to so many new registers! 🥰
❤️ Super lovely PomPom the Pomeranian came to us as an emergency following being hit by a quad bike 🏍️😱
With lots of cuddles from our team throughout the day, ultrasound scans and X-rays we confirmed a dislocated hip! 😢
Our vet Hannah replaced the hip back into its socket under anaesthetic and luckily PomPom has made it home with her owners this evening to continue with lots of rest, pain relief and cuddles❤️
✨ 🔮These are urine crystals! 🔮✨
These little crystals are from the urine of one of our recent critical cases.
Instead of bringing you calm, peace or luck, these little guys can cause some big problems, especially if they bind together and form a stone! A stone can prevent your pet from urinating and cause them to become potentially critically ill very quickly 🪨 🏥 🐶 🐱
Signs of a stone, or crystals include passing blood when urinating, struggling to pass urine, pain or discomfort in your pets belly.
If your pet experiences any of these signs call us as an emergency 🚨
Purdy joined us recently for her thyroid removal surgery! ❤️ 🐱
Like many cats as they get older, Purdy developed an over-active thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism), which caused problems including weight loss, and eating lots! 🐈⬛
After discussion with her owner, Purdy’s mum decided it was best to have her gland removed.
We had her with us as a surgical day case for the operation to remove her thyroid gland, and she went home the same evening! 🏠
Purdy recovered really well and bloods a few weeks later showed that she no longer required any medication! 💊 🐱
🌟 Meet Lando 🌟
This lovely guy travelled and hour and a half a few weeks ago for a second opinion from our team! ❤️
The following day we admitted him and after some special imaging in house we diagnosed a hiatal hernia.
Hiatal hernias are an issue that we see most commonly in English Bulldogs like Lando. These are where the diaphragm has a larger opening than it should do to the abdomen, so the stomach can slip up into the chest and cause reflux and regurgitation. ❤️ 🐾
Today Lando underwent advanced surgery with us to repair the defect and help keep the stomach in place. 🏥
Here he is enjoying a post operative wander to see the cows 🐮
We can’t wait to see him back to check on his progress! ❤️
Dont forget that foam, coughing and mucus doesn’t always mean a problem with bulldog’s airways! If your bulldog, pug or frenchie displays any of these signs remember to book in with a brachy-friendly vet to investigate fully! 🥰
🐾 ❤️
Little puppy Ace has been in with us recently following eating over a metre of fabric! 😱❤️
Ace was critically poorly and had to stay with us for seven days after he started vomiting and his mum noticed that he was unwell 🐶
Hannah and Matt operated to try to save his intestine, but unfortunately for Ace he needed over 60cm of intestine removing 🐾
As Ace was so poorly, he needed lots of critical care, with multiple infusions and a feeding tube. With Hannah, Matt and head nurse Anna providing the best possible care and slowly but surely he improved and Ace was discharged home last weekend! 🥰 🏠
We were pleased to see him doing so well today at his post operative check ❤️
Our team always strive to provide the best possible care with both routine day to day care and advanced critical care, with both Hannah and Matt currently completing their emergency and critical care advanced practitioner training 🏥 ❤️
Lucky Luna has returned home!
After a five hour round trip Luna’s owners have managed to get her back to Cardiff safe and sound ❤️
She was brought into us yesterday as a stray, and luckily as her owners kept her chip information up to date, we were able to reunite her with her owners, over 150 miles away! 🐱 🥰
https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/cat-went-missing-cardiff-turned-29472024.amp
Her owner knew something wasn't right when 14-year-old Luna didn't return home
Last night we had the pleasure of visiting Jenny ❤️
As a gold plan pet, she gets access to free home visits and had her routine bloods and nail clip from the comfort of her own home! 🐶 💅
Did you know Vets Hannah and Matt have a soft spot for bulldogs, frenchies and pugs, owning all three breeds themselves? 🐶
Vet Hannah is the only kennel club trained assessor for the Cambridge University Respiratory Function Grading Scheme in Stoke on Trent; so we get lots of brachycephalic patients travelling from all over the north of the UK! 🇬🇧
If you’re not sure whether your pet has breathing issues book in with Hannah for an assessment ❤️
This is particularly important prior to breeding to help choose healthy parents, and breed healthier puppies!

Look how cute Minette is! ❤️
Minette joined us yesterday for a dental 🦷
Here she in in recovery having a cuddle with our nurse Anna ❤️
Our fixed price dentals give peace of mind for pets needing dental work, starting at a fixed price of £200 for a scale and polish we get pets visiting us from all over the north of the uk to get treatment for their teeth 😊
New legal requirement for cats 🐱
Cats older than 20 weeks now legally have to be microchipped 🐈
Give us a call to book in 📞
Our emergencies come in all shapes and sizes! 🚨
How cute was one of this evenings emergency?!
After giving birth this afternoon, Sweeps kittens placentas unfortunately wrapped together and constricted one of the kittens legs 🐱
This is a very serious as this means that without blood flow to the legs, the legs themselves can become compromised.
Luckily for Sweeps kittens, their owner noticed this problem and rushed them straight down. With a little help from the team the umbilical cords and placentas were safely removed and they should all be absolutely fine ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
All of our consultations are free of charge, to help everyone during this cost of living crisis, so this only cost the owners a £20 registration fee!
❤️
Someone’s had a busy day ❤️
Today we’ve had a busy day, seeing lots of poorly pets here at the hub and out on the road and the team didn’t stop until 10pm! 🌙 💫
We work hard to ensure that each and every patient gets the best possible care from our super hardworking small team of four! ❤️
As you can see, Tumbles also super snoozy after helping look after all of our hospitalised pets today too! 🐶 🥰
This cutie visited us this afternoon for his booster! 🥰
Ernie was super well behaved and even loved the healthy seaweed treats 🌊 🐶 ❤️
❤️ our normal out of hours service resumes tomorrow ❤️
🌟client announcement 🌟
This is a really difficult post to write 😔
We’ve recently posted on our social media page that we’ve had to let our pug Barkley pass over the rainbow bridge 🌈
As you all know, this has been a difficult period for us and as such we’re not doing our own out of hours for the rest of the month.
We’ve previously asked you to respect this decision, so please be kind.
All of our team work tirelessly to ensure that your pets get the best possible care, but at this current time, Matt and Hannah need time outside of work to process this.
We have unfortunately received a number of difficult to read messages on our business page regarding our decision.
Please be kind, and remember that we have feelings too ❤️
🌟 Client announcement 🌟
This weekend will be particularly difficult for Matt and Hannah; as they have made the difficult decision to let their pug Barkley cross the rainbow bridge 🌈
We hope that you all understand that as a family run practice, just Matt and Hannah do the out of hours to help your pets when needed, however for the next few days to give them time to process everything they have asked an out of hours provider to cover them.
If you need advice overnight or throughout the weekend, just call the normal number and you’ll be diverted straight to the out of hours provider.
We hope that you all understand and respect what a difficult time this will be for them both as he has been a huge part of their lives since Matt delivered him as a tiny puppy almost 13 years ago ❤️
We've had a cheeky lady brought in this morning who has been wandering leek road Weston coyney. Are you missing your bunny? If so please call on 01782 438663
Tumble update ❤️
This week’s been full of complex cases and very poorly patients, with our team pulling together all the way, however Tumble has never failed to cheer us up! 🥰
As you can see from the video, his coordination and movement is coming along amazingly! He also enjoys a cheeky playtime with his toys now too! 😍
🐾
Did you know that it’s not just cats and dogs that need dentals? 🐶 🐱
We do lots of dentals on our much smaller patients, such as rabbits, guinea pigs and even chinchillas such as Bertie here! 🐰 🐹
Unlike dogs and cats, their teeth continuously grow and can become uncomfortable if they aren’t wearing down properly, which is why it’s really important to have regular dental check ups for your small furries, especially if we are eating less of our favourite foods, or have started to get a wet chin! 🦷
We’re expanding our team.. again! ❤️
Now we’ve grown to a close knit team of four, two vets, a head nurse and a student nurse who enjoy lots of laughs and enjoy whatever the day throws at us, we’re looking to expand further!
What are we looking for?
🐾 A fully qualified Veterinary Nurse
🐾 A second year student nurse
We’ve got a varied case load, including a high volume of emergency cases, so you’ll never be bored! We actively encourage clinical discussion to help progress the knowledge of the entire team, and we actively change protocols after discussions with the whole team 🐾❤️
We offer free consultations at our hub in Weston Coyney to help our clients receive healthcare for their pets when they need it, not when they can afford it. ❤️
We’re looking for someone who shares our passion and enthusiasm for the job as well as a desire to grow, both personally and as part of a team.
Contact [email protected] for more information!
📣Coming Soon📣
We’re soon going to be opening up a waiting list to join our new out of hours plan!
What does this mean?
When we roll out our plan for £20 per month per pet you will be entitled to:
❤️ free out of hours consultations
❤️ free in-house diagnostic tests when seen as an emergency out of hours
❤️ free emergency stabilisation overnight, including hospitalisation and emergency surgery overnight if needed.
At this current time, you will also need to register with our practice if you’re not already registered.
Why would we do this?
We want to ensure that our clients, new, old and future get the very best care when our pets need us the most.
Out of hours care is the most worrying time for any pet owner, and with the average cost of an out of hours consult being £253.34 (as reported by ManyPets) excluding further work up or surgery, we want to make a huge impact to change the way that we as pet owners feel about out of hours care in our community ❤️
We want to ensure that we take away the stress of out of hours care, to ensure that your pets get seen as soon as they need, to ensure the best possible outcome for your pets and you. 🐶 🐱 🐰
What does it not include?
As this is an emergency out of hours plan, ongoing treatment, diagnostics and surgery ahead of the initial stabilisation and during normal working hours are not included. Medications are also not included within the plan. Home visits are also not included.
Our waiting list will go live over the next couple of weeks!
Feel free to share with friends and family, to help make a difference ❤️
After a week of illness, Tumble’s back to full health and crazier than ever 😂

Earlier this year, we met Sky 🐾❤ Following on from life-saving surgery a few months ago, she developed a rare condition which meant that she couldn't use her back legs and she was extremely painful.. This week, we gave Sky the all clear. She's been one of the loveliest patients that we've had stay with us (and the longest in-patient stay!), and even though we won't have to see her quite so often, she will always remain such a special patient to all of us ❤❤ As a team we've been really privileged to be part of her journey to recovery. #bestjob #bestjobever #veterinary #veterinarylife #veterinaryclinic #stokeontrent #stokeontrent #petsofstoke #staffordshirebullterrier
