12 years today I started my own dog walking business. During that time I've got qualified up to level 5 in canine behaviour helped various owners with their dogs with all sorts of problems. During the cooler months I also instruct canicross and help owners to run with their dogs safely 🐾🐾🥳

I'd be lying if I said it was easy as it requires being out in all weathers and getting a bit grubby sometimes. Building a good reputation is key but the dogs make it easier to do as they are a pleasure to walk and look after🐾🐾

Having an older dog I understand first hand the changes in the dogs needs. Exercise quantity might change, they might find walks they used to cope ok with a bit of a struggle and they might have the odd old age accident. All are normal behaviours, I'll listen to what the dogs needs are and treat them exactly as I would my own 🐶 They are very precious and deserve only the best, Sammi wouldn't have it any other way 😁

I cannot get the message across on the seriousness of heat stroke in dogs. As I'm doing my rounds I'm still seeing people out walking their dogs. They don't even have water on them if the worst happened. I've taken the temperature of the tarmac before and after every visit and the tarmac in the sun reached above 50 degrees this will burn their paws and put them at high risk of heat stroke. Look after your dogs all they are so precious 🐶🐾🐾

This mornings walks will be reduced and this afternoon walks will be replaced with a toilet let out. For those with artificial artificial grass gardens I'll find the nearest real grass patch so dogs can have safe toilet break. Any problems let me know and I'll keep you all updated on how they are during this warm spell 🐾🐾

Summer has finally arrived 😎 Necessary precautions will be taken when I'm walking dogs. Afternoon walks could be cut short or replaced with toilet let outs to keep your dogs safe in warm weather. Any problems get in touch, as always the health and welfare of the dogs comes first 🐶

The temperatures are looking much safer next week so 🤞 normal service will resume. Thank you for your understanding and keeping your dogs safe during this hot weather. Again today and tomorrow's afternoon walks will be a toilet let out option to prevent heat related illness 🐾🐾

Happy 11th birthday to Shake Your Paws dog walking 🎉

Taking that leap from leaving a full paid job to start up solo was so worth it but it certainly wasn't easy but 11 years later and still going strong despite many challenges from some expected and some unexpected, even a pandemic. During that time also qualifying as a level 5 canine behaviourist and several other qualifications. So many said I wouldn't make it even grandma said it to me but she was also the first to admit she was wrong not many others admitted that 🙈 Here's to many more years of doing a job I enjoy with so many beautiful dogs. To present and past clients thank you 😁

Unfortunately I'm seeing more of people offering a dog walking and training service that have no insurance or qualifications or even experience. Young adults finishing school and then offering this service without any of the above. The industry is unregulated and anybody can claim to be a "dog trainer" and have responsibility of walking your dog 😬 Please do your research and check their credentials and ask to see the insurance certificate. All my clients will be shown my insurance details and I'm proud of my qualifications as I've worked hard for them. There are plenty of other good reputable walkers and trainers that do the same. Keep your dogs safe and support a reputable business that is doing it the right way :)

All dogs must be up to date with vaccinations! I cannot risk walking unvaccinated dogs! Keep a look out for symptoms and look after your dogs. Any concerns over your dogs health see a vet as soon as possible 🐶
