I’ve numerous incidents with the following recently.

1. People shoving food and treats into dogs mouths without asking permission. We have several dogs with severe allergies. Please don’t feed anyone’s dog without asking permission first. This has been an issue with dogs both on and off lead.

2. Grabbing hold of dogs and attempting to give affection when the dogs clearly don’t want to be bothered. We have several extremely nervous dogs that don’t like to be petted. Even when I’m communicating that the dogs are nervous and don’t like to be touched I’m being ignored or met with anger.

We need to be having conversations around appropriate behavior and socialisation with dogs. It’s also our responsibility to teach our children how to politely co exist with our family pets. I’ve been walking really large powerful dogs on lead and had children running over and wrapping both arms around dogs necks whilst parents look on and chuckle.

We are a nation of dog lovers but that doesn’t give us an inherent right to feed or pet anyone’s dog without permission. We really need to shift our focus us to education and appropriate socialisation.

We’ve all been there 😭💀🤣

This has been the most miserable and upsetting few weeks we have ever experienced, the suffering and welfare issues we had to deal with have been overwhelming.

What kind of democratic Government inflicts such suffering on thousands of responsible owners and dogs that have never offended, especially at Christmas, the worst time of year for the rescues . What is to be gained by adding dogs to the banned breed register, when it is agreed by so many that BSL is ineffective and does not prevent dog attacks?

Thankfully, these adorable little innocents are on their way to safety now. ❤️ We are grateful to other rescues in safe places for reaching out to help us. We have sent 26 puppies to safety but we are bombarded by constant calls for help, hundreds of emails, phone calles and messages. So many innocent dogs being dumped, ending up destroyed because our hands are tied by the introduction of this ban on bullies.

We and other rescues are being prevented from doing what we do best- saving vulnerable lives!

We are doing all we can to stem a tide of misery caused by irresponsible breeders and a Government that has done nothing over the years to prevent the massive overbreeding of all dogs for profit. The dog pounds are full of every type of dog, it was a crisis before the ban was introduced, it is now a catastrophe!

The Government have now have effectively brought about a cull of dogs that have done nothing wrong and in the right homes never would!!!

Pups like those pictured.. just 4 weeks old paying for Government failure, Rescues broken, staff having to endure heartache day after day listening to pleas for help, desperate cases that we cannot help. We have been told we cannot exempt dogs to our Charity that were brought to us after the 31st of October, and we are running out of time to help all those on our waiting list.

Breed specific legislation does not work! If it did we would not be in the position we are now in! It has not prevented dog attacks and bites in the past and it won’t do so in the future.
How much more suffering must we witness before those that can bring about change LISTEN and LEARN from experienced rescues on the front line that know what the true problem is!?

The New Year holds no hope for us but we will continue to speak out and fight for those that don’t have a voice💔
