Ooooops. Naughty Mum forgot to wish Lola a very Happy 10th Birthday.
We cannot believe that we took her in all those years ago. She is a fantastic girl and she has been a terrific mum.
Allowing me to help her whelp for both litters was the best feeling and I can recall when one puppy was breach, she looked at me, looked down below and to me it was a signal to say, can you help this one.
Last year, she had a lump removed and the wound area was big but she nodded off every time I changed her dressing Her trust in me is beautiful and we love her so much.

When I breed my own litters, I place endorsements on each puppy, when I register their kennel names with the Kennel Club.

So what are endorsements?

Kennel Club regulations allow the registered breeder of a dog, to place endorsements on a dog's records. The endorsements which may be placed are:

R - PROGENY NOT ELIGIBLE FOR REGISTRATION

X - EXPORT PEDIGREE NOT ALLOWED

The first, "Progeny Not Eligible For Registration" prevents the dog's progeny (puppies), from being registered at the Kennel Club.

They are put in place to protect the breeder and the health of the puppies. We don’t want our lines do be used to make designer cross breeds, especially when a lot of responsible breeders, such as myself, put our heart and soul into health testing our Dams, selecting Stud dogs, comparing inbreeding coefficients to narrow down Studs and keeping our Dam safe during her pregnancy, to make as healthy puppies as we possibly can.

Similarly, "Export Pedigree Not Allowed" prevents the dog from being registered with an overseas Kennel Club.

Endorsements can be lifted at the breeders discretion.

I have shared this post from the LRC (Labrador Retriever Club), of which I am a member of.
Rest assured that I do not breed dilute Labradors. Chocolate Labradors vary in colour from pale to dark brown.
Labradors do not come in Silver or Charcoal. Silver and Charcoal Labradors are a result of breeding a black Labrador with a Weimaraner.

‘This is a very sad case of a dog’s unnecessary suffering - rest assured the LRC are doing everything they can to prevent dogs with the dilute gene from being registered with the UK Kennel Club - you can do your bit by ensuring the breeders of silvers and other non breed colours go out of business.’ Fiona Joint

I am hoping my experience can help others.
I have a “dilute lab.” Notice the quotes.
Let me start by saying I LOVE this dog. And it’s out of my love for him that I use our story to help others learn and become educated about dilute labs and why breeding them is irresponsible ans buying them is irresponsible.

I like so many people I was uneducated about the labrador breed standard or what responsible breeding looked like. I grew up in a family that just goes and meets the parents and if they are friendly and healthy looking it’s okay to buy a dog from them.
I saw a litter near me for sale and being my first dog on my own my husband and I went and met the puppies. I wanted a black lab but she already had a litter ready for homes. They were charcoals, silvers, and chocolates.
I ended up picking a charcoal because I thought it was beautiful and was excited to hear how “rare” they are.

I noticed within a few weeks of having him his hair on his ears was very thin. By 10 months older his ears were completely bald. By 15 months I noticed hair thinning on his flanks and by 2 years old he had bald spots. He is now 3 years old and has two large bald spots on his flanks / sides.

I have taken him to the vet to figure out what it was. He was getting bacterial infection breakouts where he was bald and they diagnosed him with color dilution alopecia AND allergies. I was told to join a group called Color Dilution Alopecia silver labradors and was shocked to see how many silver and charcoal labs had this condition and problem. They all recommended the “gunner regimen” I spend hundreds a month on supplements to keep his hair from getting worse. Sometimes he gets bunny fur back but he has never gotten his top coat (guard hairs) back. And he never will. In certain seasons he will lose hair by the chunks. I started to question dilute labs and did lots of research. For so long I was an advocate for them and fighting people who said he was mixed. Now I found myself open to true research and education.

I now find myself on the other side of the fence. I try and advocate to people that they shouldn’t purchase a “dilute lab” they do not fit the breed standard, they have health issues galore, they have horrible coats that are brittle and dry, and breeders will actually charge MORE for the dilute labs knowing they aren’t as healthy.

It’s not fair to buy a dog and possible watch that dog suffer with health. I’ve talked to others with silvers that their dog got staph from a bacterial infection and needed antibiotics over and over to keep the infection at bay. That’s not good for the dogs body, liver, kidney etc to get antibiotics monthly.

I love my dog… and I’ll give him the best life I can. But I don’t want others to go through this…
Dilute labs aren’t purebred! they are notoriously unhealthy and suffer with health issues. Please hear me out and do your research.

Labs come in only 3 colors. Black, yellow, and chocolate. They do not naturally carry the dilute gene.
Support responsible breeders.

Some of our puppies had Bolos, but who?

Behind the front feet (specifically, behind the metacarpal/metatarsal pads) of some Labrador Retrievers are white spots or “thumbprints” called “bolo marks.” They’re named after the English Dual Champion Banchory Bolo (1915 – 1927), the first dog to earn a dual championship by winning bo...

Good muscle definition, lean physique, drive and as fit as a flea. Hip and elbow scoring, along with eye testing, to be done on this young lady, before the year is out. The hunt for a compatible sire will commence when she is 2 in 2022.
