If you buy animal (horse, cat/dog, farm etc.) medicines from Gatley’s please read on and save this post!

You may be aware that there has been an amendment to the Veterinary Medicines Regulations, which means we need to ask you a few more questions when you buy animal medicines from us.

The new regulation means we must ask you for the reason why you need the medicines and record this reason in our database. In some instances, you may be asked to provide test results e.g. for wormers, to ascertain worm burden and whether the medicine is required.

There may be some other questions depending on the type(s) of animal (weight, numbers, age etc.) or the disease/issue relating to the medicines.

Gatley’s have 3 SQPs (Suitably Qualified Persons). At our Sullington store we have an SPQ who can advise and dispense medicines for equine, companion and farm animals and another SQP who is solely for equine and companion animals (like dogs and cats).

At our Horsham store in Plummers Plain we have another SQP again who can advise and dispense medicines for equine, companion and farm animals.

We advise that you;

- Call before you visit us to make sure our SQPs are on site (phone numbers below).
- Ask us to check availability of any medicines you believe you may need before visiting us.
- If relevant, bring your horse passport(s) with you as some products require us to check this document.

The team at Gatley’s really appreciate your support to help us with this new change.

With the warmer weather you might want to ensure you have everything you need to keep your dog suuuuper cool!
