XC schooling for beginners/young horses
or get your confidence for xc!!!

50cm xc fences will be out in the school for the next couple of weeks, im offering hiring of the school with use of the fences before i put them out in our jump field.

lots to be said about spraying fields year on years for what we WE dont like the look of! and now wounder why horse have so many gut issues! 🤯

A state of low grade inflammation is a component of obesity and EMS, thought to affect over 50% of horses and linked to multiple diseases in horses, the two most common being laminitis and osteoarthritis.
Low grade inflammation is defined by an increase in TNF (tumour necrosis factor).
In the gut an increase in TNF causes a chronic type of dysbiosis of the gut bacteria the outcome of which is a ‘leaky gut’.
Older animals age poorly if a state of low-grade inflammation exists, magnified by the use of long-term medications (antibiotics), poor diet, lack of exercise and /or obesity.
One of the best dietary additions for this type of gut condition, especially supportive of older horses, is Scutelleria (Skull Cap) this plant contains a potent chemical called wogonin, able to significantly reduce TNF production in the gut and elsewhere in the body.
Can be given as a supplement or foraged. There is a variety that grows wild in the UK called Scutellaria galericulata, commonly found around any wetland, rivers, canals, marshes, and fens. It’s a member of the mint family (Lamiaceae) and all varieties within this family contain low levels of wogonin, most are well tolerated but might be best to avoid Mentha pulegium, (Penny Royal).
