Stowe Veterinary Group is an independent practice that has been providing a caring and professional service for all domestic pets, horses and farm animals for more than 50 years. The group comprises three large surgical practices – Stowe Veterinary Centre in Stowmarket, Moreto

n Hall Veterinary Centre in Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich Veterinary Centre in Ipswich, as well as two smaller local practices, The Mustard Pot Veterinary Surgery in Needham Market and The Old Tea Room Veterinary Surgery in Elmswell. Our three larger surgeries stock a good range of pet products through our in-house shop Pets Place. We are proud to have high standards and do not compromise on these standards of care for the health and welfare of the pets we treat, under any circumstances. We are also proud to have remained independent of the national companies in order to maintain our core principles of being caring, friendly and reasonably priced, whilst providing the highest standards of veterinary medicine and surgery and preventative health care. Our team are animal lovers who are passionate about their work. We take pride in getting to know our clients and their pets and are always happy to give informal advice, either in person or over the telephone. The wellbeing of our patients is at the centre of what we do; this means we will treat your pets as if they were our own.

Elsa recently visited The Grooming Lounge at Stowe Veterinary Centre for her pamper session with head dog groomer Mel. She was such a good girl throughout the experience.

🔥 Hot Pavements = Hot Paws! 🐾

On sunny days, pavements can get hot enough to burn your dog’s paws in minutes. A good rule of thumb? If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their feet!

🐶 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
🌳 Stick to shaded paths or grassy areas
🖐️ Always do the hand test before heading out

Let’s keep those paws safe this summer! 💛

🔥🍗 BBQ season is here – but let’s keep it safe for our pets! 🐶🐱

While those sizzling sausages and burgers smell delicious, many BBQ foods can be harmful to our pets.

🚫 Avoid giving bones, corn on the cob, onions, garlic, or fatty meats
🥩 Keep food and skewers well out of reach
🗑️ Secure bins – pets love to scavenge!

☀️ Did you know pets can get sunburn too?

In the summer, pets with light-coloured or thin fur – especially on areas like ears, noses, and bellies – are more at risk. Pet-safe sunscreen is essential for protecting sensitive skin from harmful UV rays and preventing sunburn and long-term skin damage.

🌞 Always choose a pet-safe sunscreen (never human sunscreen – it can be toxic!) and apply it to exposed areas if your pet is spending time outdoors.

☀️🐰 Keeping Cool This Summer 🐹❄️

With the warmer weather here, it’s important to keep our small outdoor pets like rabbits and guinea pigs safe and comfortable.

Make sure their homes are well-shaded, offer frozen water bottles to snuggle up to, and always provide fresh, cool water. Avoid midday playtime and keep an eye out for signs of heat stress or flystrike.
A few simple steps can make a big difference! 💛
