Stowe Veterinary Group is an independent practice that has been providing a caring and professional service for all domestic pets, horses and farm animals for more than 50 years. The group comprises three large surgical practices – Stowe Veterinary Centre in Stowmarket, Moreto

n Hall Veterinary Centre in Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich Veterinary Centre in Ipswich, as well as two smaller local practices, The Mustard Pot Veterinary Surgery in Needham Market and The Old Tea Room Veterinary Surgery in Elmswell. Our three larger surgeries stock a good range of pet products through our in-house shop Pets Place. We are proud to have high standards and do not compromise on these standards of care for the health and welfare of the pets we treat, under any circumstances. We are also proud to have remained independent of the national companies in order to maintain our core principles of being caring, friendly and reasonably priced, whilst providing the highest standards of veterinary medicine and surgery and preventative health care. Our team are animal lovers who are passionate about their work. We take pride in getting to know our clients and their pets and are always happy to give informal advice, either in person or over the telephone. Meet Oakyn , a gorgeous border collie, who had TPLO surgery two years ago 🐾💙 TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) is a surgical procedure for dogs with a torn cranial cruciate ligament. To keep him moving comfortably, he attends regular hydrotherapy and physiotherapy sessions at our sister practice Ipswich Veterinary Centre. He’s always a very good boy for them and enjoys his visits! 😄

🎄🐾 Christmas Pet Safety Advice

The festive season is magical — but some decorations can be hazardous to pets. Real trees can drop sharp needles and have toxic water, while artificial trees are safer but parts can still be a choking risk.

Holly and mistletoe might look festive, but both can be toxic to dogs and cats, especially if chewed or swallowed. Opt for pet-safe artificial decorations instead.

💛🐾 Gina’s Visit to The Mustard Pot! 🐾💛

Gina has recently visited our branch surgery The Mustard Pot, for her monthly injection to help manage her osteoarthritis pain.

She was such a good girl during her visit — and of course, she enjoyed plenty of cuddles and a few biscuits from our reception team while she waited for her appointment. 💕🐶

If you have an anxious dog, our branch surgery at the Mustard Pot in Needham Market is a good option with it’s more peaceful setting and enclosed garden. We use this to our advantage when we have dogs with anxiety who can find waiting rooms or reactivity to other dogs a daunting challenge. We can distract with toys and play to relieve anxious behaviours and work to create a positive association to visiting the vet. We also offer de-sensitisation times for dogs with extreme fear with the veterinary practice.

🐾 Vet Care Assistant Becci has been working with Finn over the past year to help desensitise him — and his progress has been incredible! 💙

Having become very nervous when visiting his usual vets, Finn became anxious and distressed during visits. When he first came to us, he was nervous about being approached or touched — especially on his paws or with a stethoscope.

With patience, kindness, and plenty of positive reinforcement, Becci has helped Finn go from fearful to fantastic! 🌟

“Finn has done amazingly. He now comes into the practice wagging his tail, greeting staff, and even lets me use the stethoscope and hold his paw,” says Becci. 💬

Desensitisation is a gentle training technique that helps pets build confidence and overcome fears by introducing them to triggers gradually in a calm, positive way.

We’re so proud of Finn’s journey — and of our incredible team (delete of behaviourists) who support pets every step of the way. 💕

Beautiful Lizzie recently stopped by our branch surgery, The Mustard Pot, for her weight check. She waited patiently for her appointment and showed off her fantastic sitting and handshake skills to receptionist Arabelle — and even gave her some kisses too! 🥰🐶

Sox recently visited our branch surgery, The Mustard Pot, after feeling a little under the weather. After a thorough check-up with the vet (and plenty of liver paste!), he left feeling much better and well on the mend. 🐾✨
