Our gorgeous wee boy Cody sadly passed away this morning. We are all absolutely devastated. We had Cody's daddy Ben and were lucky when we agreed with our friends for their dog and Ben to have a litter of puppies. Our girls picked Cody out of the litter of five. He has been a such a huge part of our family and life for the last 13.5 years and has grown up with our three girls. He has been with us through ups and downs and was always there constantly nudging your arm every minute of the day if you weren't petting him. He was the best big brother to Charlie and even with all my experience of dog training i have never seen two dogs get on as well and Charlie and Cody. Cody is our logo for our Dog training business
He was a character who enjoyed in his younger years jumping 6.5ft fencing and going into the field next door getting as mucky as he possibly could. He always kept us on our toes but had the most amazing personality and was very chilled for a working cocker spaniel.
We would like to say a massive thank you to Louise at Vets4Pets Crescent Link for her complete professionalism and care. The whole process was made easier by having her as our Vet and Cody had such a dignified experience. We were allowed time to say goodbye to him both before and after he had passed away and we will be eternally grateful for you and the staffs support thanks so much.

Cody we love you to bits and our hearts are broken and sore but you are no longer in pain. Now to grieve this gorgeous boy and look after Charlie who is looking for him around the house

We would like to say a massive Happy New year to all our past present and future.familes we have the honour of working with and their amazing dogs. Working with your dogs every week has made our dream come true and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your business.
Over the last year our classes have increased and we are back running classes in Strabane and Derry/Lderry again. We have met the most amazing families and their dogs over the last year. From children to adults everyone has been so keen to give their puppy and dog the best start in life. We are so proud of how far yous have all come.

Some of you may be new to our page and our services so thought we would give you some information about Doggy Education and Training. Our customers are offered a high quality Service as not only are they receiving visits from a Dog Trainer for classes and 1-2-1 home visits but Gabrielle is also a Certified Canine Behaviourist. We have been running classes in the Strabane and Derry/Lderry area for the last 10 years.

Gabrielle first became involved with dog training after having her own dog Ben and learning all about positive reward based training. She became involved as the Regional Co-ordinatior for Doggone Safe for the UK & Ireland after meeting Victoria Stilwell. Gabrielle has been into a number of Schools and Community groups to teach kids how to be safe around dogs by teaching them how dogs communicate. She then undertook the Family Paws course which specialises in working with expectant couples and their dogs and also toddlers and dogs. Following on from this we then began attending Training and Behaviour Conferences.

Gabrielle is a Certified Canine Behaviourist and a Full Member with International Canine Behaviourists (ICB).She is also educated to degree level and has undertaken numerous courses with leading Trainers and Behaviourists in their field such as: Chirag Patel, Sarah Fisher, Dr Amber Batson, Dr Ian Dunbar, Victoria Stilwell, Jane Arden, Alexandra Horowitz, Clive Wynne, Michael Shikashio, Sarah Heath, Joshua Leeds, Andrew Hale, Lisa Waggoner, Irith Bloom, Lisa Radosta, Ádám Miklósi and Claudia Fugazza to name a few. Alongside attending courses Gabrielle also constantly updates her knowledge by reading up to date research and training methods. It was important in coming into the field of Dog Training and Behaviour that Gabrielle educated herself to as high a level as possible.

We offer person and dog centred training using positive reinforcement and reward based training methods. We do not advocate the use of any punitive methods of training or equipment. We specialise in behaviour work as this whole area brings in all my qualifications and experience of both human behaviour and canine behaviour. We offer a non judgemental service and we are open and honest with all our clients. We have a vast experience of working with people with disabilities, ASD and mental health issues and we can adjust our training accordingly.

Have you just got a new puppy?
Well don't despair as the first few weeks can be very difficult both for you and your puppy as you get to know each other and learn new things. At Doggy Education & Training we offer home visits and training classes to help train your puppy around life skills including, house training, nipping/biting etc.
We only work with dogs in a positive reward based way, which means no punishment including tapping on the nose, or restraining the dog in anyway. Positive training teaches the dog to think for themselves and reward them for making good choices. This is the most effective form of training for dogs.The first 16 weeks of your puppies life is crucial for socialisation. Thanks so much to Penny's family for the lovely feedback. One of the aims of puppy classes is to increase confidence in puppies as this will help them to build a foundation where they feel safe. Penny's family have been amazing at reading her body language.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Veterinary practices and pet shops who have referred families and their dogs onto us for our Training and Behavioural Services.
We would also like to thank the Londonderry YMCA and The Hub - Greater Ballycolman Community Centre for supporting us to run classes in their venues. Have a lovely Christmas and enjoy the break.

The beautiful Hugo and what an amazing family this boy has. They have put in so much hard work over the weeks. This wee dog was very nervous of people on week 1 and now is appearing much more comfortable given the plan we have put in place.

Our dog Cody who is also our business logo is 13.5 years old and is such an amazing member of our family. He has recently been slowing down and has had pain as a result of arthritis. We booked him in to be seen at Vets4Pets Crescent Link for the first time to see Louise and I cannot begin to tell you how much of a great decision that was. Louise took time to assess and diagnose Cody and went through treatment options with us around pain relief. We were fully guided to all options available for Cody.
Vets4pets are very flexible with appointment times and I could not recommend them enough given our experience.

A lovely review of our classes. This dog was so quick with their learning which can be pretty normal for collies. It was clear that their family have worked hard from class to class with training.

This amazing boy and his little sister came to classes every week in Strabane. To say that they were enthusiastic at learning all about reward based training and putting all their learning into practice is an understatement. Each week they turned up to class with their homework done and were so eager for their puppy to learn new things with kindness and positivity. From this video after learning all about how dogs communicate he was able to identify that by his puppy licking their lips it was a sign that he didn't particularly want to be held up in his arms for as long. He wanted to recommend our classes so please listen to his video.
