🌟A couple of great Trail Hunt International continuation classes🌟

Working on a new environment with added distractions and learning to “take a break” - pulling the dogs off the trail, useful if another dog or car is comming, then continuing on the trail. Hectors favourite so far, being rewarded for not Trailing 🤣🤣

And “Gaps in the Trail” a great way to see when the dogs are in and out of odour and how their body language changes and teaching the dogs to look for an odour if they have lost it and not just give up.

Great work by everyone and a really interesting day working the dogs 😀🦮😀

Distractions on the trail.,,, can your dog still work the scent ignoring other dogs, people and other distractions? These can!!
Scentwork is great for “reactive” and nervous dogs, they are so focused following the scent nothing else matters 😀😀🌟🌟

🌟New Classes🌟 - Trail Hunt International

Cost is £100 with £40 deposit to secure place (deposit non refundable unless place is resold).

If you can’t make a week additional 1:1 lessons are £20 for 40 mins.

Dates:
Sundays 8.30-10.30am
13th, 20th and 27th October and 3rd November

🌟🌟Trail Hunt International Foundations 🌟
Trail Hunt is a mix of tracking and trailing, we teach the dogs to follow an aniseed scent. It is great to tire out energetic dogs but can also be practiced in any space and by yourself (unlike tracking or trailing where you need an unused sauce or a second person).

🦮Scentwork is great for all dogs but especially those with limited mobility or are older and less mobile.

A great skill that will mentally tire your dog for those hot or wet days or if they are on limited excercise.

Good for anxious or dogs with behaviour issues. Small classes, loads of space and dogs worked as individuals and do not interact.

Reward based training.

Everything is outside so please be prepared for the weather.

8.30-10.30 = Trail Hunt Foundations class
Trail hunt is teaching your dogs to follow an aniseed trail. Suitable for any dog 6 months plus, any breed, reactive/ nervous etc dogs welcomed. See posted below for details of each class. £100 (£40 non refundable deposit to secure place).

11am - 1pm = Silver Scent Detection. You need to have attended Bronze Scent detection. Introducing gun oil and active search retreve on catnip. 3 weeks classes 4th week mini comp. £100 (£40 non refundable deposit to secure place).

1.30pm - 3pm = Trail Hunt Continuation classes 👀 group page for more info each week.

If anyone is worried about trying new sports with their dog incase it affects other activities….,Tilda can prove you can do everything! She was demoing scent detection and Trail Hunt International, won the scurry 🥇 and came 5th in best fancy dress 😂❤️
Don’t be scared to try new stuff with your dogs whatever age 🦮💙🦮

**More Scent Detection Recrutes!**
Well done Sonny, Lilly and family’s, great work today! 🌟 and Tiki who couldn’t make it today 🦮
In 4 weeks the dogs have learnt to search for and find pieces of Kong just mm big. Great handling and reading of the dogs body language from all the handlers, absolutly fantastic 😀🐶😀

Trail Hunt International week 3 - multi surface trails.
Starting with my favorate exercise….line handling 😂
Then working the dogs on the long lines over multi surfaces…the scent will hold/ move/ smell different over hard and soft surfaces.

We are not expecting the dogs to “follow the trail exactly” we do not know how the scent has moved in the environment or over different surfaces, the dogs need to “find” the end pod. It’s interesting to see the different routes the dogs will take to find the pods using skills and senses we do not have or completely understand….incredible though 🦮💙🦮

Arther did some fantastic work In Trail Hunt International class last night.
We worked on increasing drive and learning to follow the scent trail and turns in the trail.

Early morning training before 🌞🌞
With a good scent ID (the dogs know what they are searching for), today we taught them to search.
They learnt to search all around as well as high and low on objects.
They could be asked to search on anything from chairs to cones to boxes and finally over the vehicles.

** More Trail Hunt International recrutes **
First session teaching the dogs scent ID (what they are following) and by following that smell they get their reward 😀

All our training is reward based, we teach the dogs by slowly building up the activity making everything positive. Dogs love learning and pleasing, by setting them up in a positive way so they don’t fail and rewarding the behaviours, increases drive and the dogs enthusiasm to do the task 🐾🦮🐾

Calling all pampered pooches, handsome hounds and clever canines! 🐶 🐩🦮🐕‍🦺🐕
Dogs of all shapes and sizes are wholly welcome at the Ilmington Show fun Dog Show on bank holiday Monday 26th August.

Kindly organised by the poochtastic Debbie Honeychurch of Avonside Canine Hydrotherapy, Stratford-on-Avon. Debbie's pool offers a complimentary therapy in canine care🐾. The dog show will be on dry land but fun will be had by all!🐶

Classes will include:
- Happiest dog
- Best trick
- Best dog
- Best bitch
- Best rescue
- Dog judge would most like to take home
And a couple more on the day just for fun 🐾
