Dee's journey - part 2
Massive thanks for watching, hope you enjoy it!
(π’ Apologies for the loud background noise on a few videos in the middle - I did try fixing it and re uploading, but it's only marginally better! π’)
Can't get over this beautiful shannon 3D air cooler that was extremely kindly gifted to Dee by Mackey Ireland π
It's super lightweight with air mesh material which ensures enhanced moisture wicking while keeping muscles at an optimum temperature.
Here is Dee sporting the "petrol" colour π
Extremely lucky and thankful to the Mackey team π§‘

Racehorse - riding horse - eventer!? ππ΄π¦
Ever seen a post stating "Looking for a quality horse. No youngsters, mares, chestnuts, TBs/ex racers..."
Well this wee horse is all of those things, and here she is less than a year on from the track having competed successfully in the show ring all the way up to Blair, dressage to novice level, and arena eventing up to 100cms, with scope to go much further in all 3 spheres π
She's on well deserved holiday at the moment, but looking forward to seeing what 2023 brings us. π΄π§‘
You would be forgiven to think after seeing Dee's first few jumping sessions that she might not be a gifted jumper... ππ
But don't underestimate what the right training can do! The right attitude can trump the right natural technique anyday!
She can still be a little loose with her legs and does take a bit of riding and settling between fences as she's so keen, but she's proving to be super willing and adjustable, so these are all things that can be improved upon with time.
Her background in racing has given her a very forward thinking and brave brain, which if I can balance correctly, will be an asset rather than an issue to us.
My first aim was just to interfere as little as possible to help her find her own jump, balance, and confidence, and she has really started to do that in just 6 short jumping sessions.
A quiet winter now and looking forward to what she comes out like next year, she is such a quick learner and going to be so special ππ΄πβ€οΈ
Dee update!
Here's a little Dee update for you all.
I have been continuing with her hacking and have recently introduced some light schooling.. And my goodness is she a quick learner!
Still plenty balancing and strengthening work to do but the basics are already good.
While staying in Dumfries I also had the opportunity to take her Xc schooling round a lovely wee quiet course and I went with the intention just to hack her round and show her the water... I wasnt going to ask her to jump anything (as she had never jumped under saddle at this point!)
But she was so sensible and content I thought I'd try a few little things.. And she adored it, it's the most lit up she has ever felt!
She was so honest and brave, didn't back off anything, actually started locking on and taking me to fences, and in one short session she went from falling over the first few fences not a clue what to do with her legs, to popping confidently and nicely over everything I asked, including skinny fences!
(clips shown was from the start of her ride where she was just starting to figure it out)
You can't fault her attitude in the slightest.
We also had a beach trip where she behaved impeccably.
Plan now is to continue to try and get some weight on the wee scrawn! And hopefully get her out to do some ridden showing.. And maybe come some point let her pop another few fences. She is only 4 so there's absolutely no rush, she can have all the time in the world!
Hope you enjoy watching her progress xx
