Rabbits are highly social creatures – this means that they need company, and that company should be from other rabbits.
But if they have at least one bonded partner they will never be lonely. As you can see from these photos and video Custard Cream and Honey are the best of friends 😍🐰🐰

All rabbits are prey animals and in the wild they rely on the company of other warren members, not only to keep warm but also to warn them if predators are around, so a single rabbit will feel anxious.

🐰😔Single rabbits are proven to show behaviours that indicate negative welfare such as bar biting so having a companion is thought to reduce stress for them.

Seeing your pets happily snuggling together is a pure joy!
Neutering and pairing (bonding) - To be kept in (at least) pairs, rabbits must be neutered – castrated or spayed (recommend regardless). If they weren’t already in a bonded pair (or group) when they came to you, you can’t just put them together and expect them to like each other. Pairing up is sometimes a long process but very well worth the patience and persistence.

These awards are to recognise 'REMARKABLE individuals and organisations whose 'exceptional contributions' make Stroud a 'thriving, vibrant community'.

Hannah is most certainly that.... amongst her many achievements are...

💜 Providing free consultations for all possible XL Bully owners to support, inform and guide them through the legislation
💜Driving our fantastic dental care offering, educating clients, improving her dental skills and making lots of patients much more comfortable
💜 Building some really quite special bonds with our clients and their pets, welcoming them in regardless of how nervous, anxious or worried they may be (pets and owners!)

May 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month 🩺

🌟We would like to take this as an opportunity to highlight not only some of the clinical skills our nurses have but also the invaluable care they provide to our patients, clients and colleagues. They are a phenomenal team who go above and beyond daily and deserve the recognition for all that they do....

💚Advising owners on pet welfare
💚Monitoring anaesthetised animals
💚Nursing sick animals
💚Preparing animals for surgery and performing minor surgical procedures
💚Running nurse clinics such as diet, worming, weight, puppy checks and behaviour
💚Taking bookings, admitting patients and completing medical paperwork
💚Taking x-rays and carrying out diagnostic tests

❤️Care for your pet as though it were their own
❤️Are by their side through all the scary bits to give treats, strokes and words of encouragement
❤️Constantly seek to improve on their skills
❤️Provide an un relenting support system to everyone around them

Did you know that today marks National Receptionist's Day❓

It is safe to say that without our team of amazing Receptionists we would be completely lost! 🤩

They are the back bone of our practice, ensuring each phone call is answered with a friendly welcome, each client is treated with respect and empathy, and all enquiries are filtered through to the correct person, place and time.

All of this whilst also answering emails, building our diary, checking prescriptions, sending pre op texts, answering insurance queries etc etc etc!

I am sure they'd be able to pat their heads, rub their tummies, spin a plate and still not drop any balls!

In addition to all of the above, they are also the kindest bunch of ladies you will ever have the pleasure to meet, they have an un canny way of knowing if you need a hug and will always ALWAYS help anyone who needs it.

In addition to securing a £1000 community grant for TTeckels Animal Sanctuarieswe are thrilled to announce we raised a fantastic £340, which will be donated equally to TTeckels Animal Sanctuariesand WWild Hogs Hedgehog Rescue💜

We have had a stray cat handed into us last night.
He is a white and tabby neutered male
He has four white paws, a white chest and white markings on his face.
Has no chip and no collar

He was found in Kingsway, Gloucester

🐰🐹Rabbit & Guinea Pig Facts
⚠️⚠️Dangers grazing in the garden:
🌷🪻💐🎋Flowering Bulbs - e.g. snowdrops, hyacinths, bluebells, daffodils and tulips. Also: buttercups, poppy, ivy, holly, foxgloves.

Rabbits can live for 10+ years and guinea pigs live 5-7years.
Bunnies (and Piggies) are for life, they require continuous love, care and socialisation.

These beautiful Bunnies belong to our Receptionist Natalie, we would love to see pictures of your Bunnies and Piggies (please share).

🐾💕Today is National Pets Day💕🐾
What do they mean to us, our furry friends?
Well, all of our fab team at the Clockhouse Vets, understand exactly what they mean to us.
Everything.
They are our friend, our family. They are our company when we are all alone, when they are all we have.
They are the one our teenagers love when their frustrations are beyond their control. They are our sunshine on a rainy day, our comforters when the tears fall uncontrollably. They are our strength and hope when illness strikes.
They are our joy, on the beach, in the fields and woods, on the commons - and in our living rooms when the zoomies strike! They are our constant source of entertainment- how many of us have phones, filled with photos of our beloved furry friends - ‘Look at his toebeans/ears/teefs!!!’ ‘Look at him… look at her…’
We love to share them, and we all want to look at the photos.
We love them even though they leave us too soon.
They are SO important to you, me, your friends, your families… we get that. We really do.
We will always, always do our best for them, for you. We will. We get it 💕

😃 FEEL GOOD FRIDAY!! 😃

This is George, the (gorgeous) giant schnauzer who visited us recently for his annual blood test. As you can see, no good boys were harmed in the making of this video 😆 ... blood test? What blood test? Squirty cheese and cuddles is all George has taken from this situation!
His blood results were then reported as being within normal limits 🙌 just in time to celebrate his 12th birthday!! 🥳🥳 100% in style with that hat and banner!

🐶No matter how much they give you their bestest smiles with their best teefs, and their softest eyes… do not give in!🐶

🍫Actually, I’m pretty sure that everyone knows that chocolate is bad for dogs, yes?

But did you know why…? Do you know which chocolate is the worst…? And what you should do if you find your dog has snaffled your Easter Egg…(apart from mourn the loss of chocolate?!)

🐶🍫The toxic chemical in chocolate, Theobromine, is a heart stimulant, a muscle relaxant,diuretic, & dilates blood vessels.
🐶🍫dogs cannot process Theobromine well and it can cause sickness, diarrhoea,kidney problems,
🐶🍫dark chocolate, coco powder, & cooking chocolate is the most toxic
🐶🍫white chocolate- well, it’s not really chocolate! So it is the least likely to cause problems

If you find your dog has snaffled your Easter Eggs, or stolen your box of truffles, what should you do?!

1. Look at the clock. What time do you think it was eaten?
2. Phone 01453 752555 for advice.
3. Be ready for some questions. The Vet will want to know roughly how much of what, was consumed, how long ago and what age, weight or breed your dog.
4.Follow the advice given - you may need to do nothing, or you may need to bring your dog to the Hospital to be made to vomit. Fatalities are rare, but some dogs do need hospital treatment.
5. Once it’s all over, vow to only buy Easter Eggs for yourself and eat them in the car.
Well, you’re keeping your dog safe, right?!😜
Oh and if you do an Easter Egg Hunt in the garden for your children, your dog has a better chance of finding the eggs than the kids!

😍😍Just LOOK at those EARS 😍😍
💕This delicious little girl is Rosie the Corgi💕
She was only 12 weeks old when she came in for a visit. She says she had a really lovely time with Hannah in our Nailsworth Branch🐾💕🐾
Did you know that our branch in Nailsworth is absolutely perfect for a first visit? It’s not as busy as the Hospital in Stroud, and therefore not so overwhelming. It’s especially great for our nervous or anxious dogs (and owners too, if you prefer not to be in a busy environment!)
🐶Rosie was absolutely brilliant and no doubt rather enjoyed the special treats - note the licky mat that she’s sat on! 🐶
