Lunch time treat time 💜🐾
Crates should be safe, fun places to be and not used for punishment. As you can see her door is open but we would like her to be inside during meal times to stop Aurora feeding her from the high chair!
How do you do that .. treat inside the crate! Food filled toys keeps her entertained and gives her a positive experience of her crate. If you don’t like the sound of the word crate change it to Flo’s secure comfy castle bed 💜
It’s there for her and our houses safety.

This was an interesting time at the start.. Flo desperately wants to lick her face and the high chair and trust me she can reach 🙈
This one is frustrating to train and I felt like I didn’t get a relaxing meal for 2 days but 2 days is better then stressful meals forever!
Training dogs to keep them in there beds discourages begging and stops them eating food that could be poisonous to them. In our case it’s also less distractions for Aurora.
Lots of skills used for this one. ‘Bed’ ‘stay’ ‘settle’ and ‘release’ ‘leave it’. She’s not perfect yet so I’ll film a start of meal time to show you how to get to this stage 😃
Recall stage 2- increase the distance
We’ve been on a confidence building walk. We’ve had Flo less then a week so not trusted off lead plus as a sight hound shell be fast!! You can see in video she’s on a lose long line or rope in our case. 🐾
She’s still quite nervous of everything in woods so letting her have the freedom.
Same as before I’ve whistled, waited for her to come towards me to give command and treated on arrival.
I also used ‘walk on’ as a release command. Explain this later 😌🐾

Recall stage one- this is perfect for in the house training🏠. 🐾 I’ve shown her I have something of interesting my hands.
🐾 Take one step back Whistle, Command and Treat in quick succession. This helps them associate the whistle with treat. Repeat this as often as needed.
🐾 Next I took a larger step back Whistled and waited till she moved to give command. Treat.
🐾Next I moved further away and same again whistled and waited till she started to move towards me to give vocal command. Treat (treat can be food or toy)
I’ve done all 3 steps quickly to keep her I interested and not fight with distractions.
Start in the house then the garden and then try it out on walks 💜🐾 let me know how you get on.
