🐾✨ Scentwork in Action! ✨🐾

Here’s Rose showing off her incredible nose this week! 👃🐶 She’s trained to detect kong, gun oil, and catnip, and in this session, she was on the hunt for gun oil. With Rob around, we were able to do blind searches, which meant I had to fully trust and read Rose’s signals—such a great reminder of how well we need to know our dogs!

Scentwork is fantastic for keeping dogs mentally engaged, even when time is tight. Plus, as you and your dog progress, you can take it out and about for even more fun! Seeing so many amazing dogs coming through 1:1 sessions lately, and I can't wait to see them progress!

Nice to get out and about to a difference location. It would be easy for us to only ever train at the training centre but it’s good for dogs and us to get out to different places to keep it fresh and proof those behaviours.

Our Gundog camps are perfect for regular clients or anyone who wants to experience our training but lives a bit too far away for regular visits. Over three days, you’ll see excellent progress as we dive deep into training with dogs of all levels—novice, intermediate, and advanced.

We use a variety of environments, from grass paddocks, woods, water, and jumps, to our rabbit and pheasant pens. You’ll get to work with dummy launchers and refine your dog’s skills in real-world settings. Plus, enjoy social evenings together, along with elevenses and lunch each day. ☕🥪

✨ The End of an Era: Season 2024/2025 ✨

Today marks the last day of the season, and what a fabulous, busy one it’s been! The dogs have been nothing short of incredible, and I couldn’t be prouder of their performances. 🐾

🌟 Rose at 12.5 years old—what a star! Still nailing those runners during the drive, unfazed by the chaos of guns and falling birds.
🌟 Conker at 11.5 years old—an absolute master at sweeping up and finding those lost birds.
🌟 Gin & Iris, the “dream team”—both in their prime and unstoppable, even when hitting cover hard. Nothing escapes them!
🌟 Orchid, our rising star at just 3.5 years old—this season, she’s truly come into her own: working tirelessly, marking, taking lines, picking runners during drives, and staying steady to fallen game.

All the dogs have shown impeccable steadiness to hares and deer, which is always rewarding to see. A few tweaks to the training program (as always!) after a well-deserved month of rest. Some weeks, they’ve worked five days straight—true champions! 🐶💪

Tomorrow, they’ll enjoy an easier day while Rob heads out for beaters’ day. Then it's the big clean up - truck, dog coats etc.
