Langley Hill will be shut until 23rd August, this will affect any customers travelling to Bark & Bound and the Woodland Walk from the A4,
There is a diversion in place but please allow extra time for your journey, please check your route before you travel 🐾❤️

Hi Everyone!
We haven’t posted in a while as most days we have been fanatically checking the weather and talking about mud non-stop, it’s been the wettest year we have ever had and the mud has been a full time fight!

Paws Paddock in Sulhamstead is first to tackle now it is slightly drier, the car park area is being re-surfaced this week which will mean the large puddle will be removed, this is the first winter we offered the hose pipe to clean the dogs which is why the area around the shed has been so much wetter than usual, this is something we will also be improving over the summer and we will be looking at better wash station drainage,

All fields need their first spring cuts as the rain has not stopped the growing and we are calling in the big gun tractors as the mowers can get round as the fields still have wet patches, this will happen over the next week,

Spring/Summer hours have started at all the enclosures apart from Paws Paddock in Sulhamstead as we will be improving the ground conditions as much as we can before releasing more sessions,

🌟 We have some amazing news to share 🌟

We presented last night at the Basingstoke council committee planning meeting, this meeting was about our Little London proposed walking site, we have been working on this proposal a long 18 months with lots of surveys and planning checks, but……

We are absolutely delighted to say the planning has now been approved, we have some conditions to work through before we can start the fencing but we have high hopes of a late Spring/early Summer opening
This site is a great space of just over 6 acres which is the same as our Bark and Bound big field in Tilehurst,
Thank you to everyone that supported us on this long journey we are so happy to be bringing another field to the Hounds and Bounds family 🐾 ❤️

Mud Report for all fields

We have checked that all hose pipes are working so dogs can be washed off next to the sheds if needed 💦

Bark & Bounds Tilehurst
This field is holding up pretty well, being 6 acres there is lots of space and the ground isn’t being churned up, it is muddy in the gateway so please take care in your welly’s when you enter, there are some water patches but over all not to muddy, there is quite a lot of water at the top of Pincents lane but it is reducing

Woodland Walkies Tilehurst
The right hand side of the woods is pretty dry as this side doesn’t tend to get the run off but the left hand side and at the top middle path are the worst spots, the woodchip paths are helping it not be boggy but it is very wet and there are very muddy patches, we put drainage channels in to help in autumn and these are meaning it is better than last year but with all the water that has ran down we do have a bit of drying out to do, again water at the top of the access lane so proceed with caution

Fidos Field Bradfield
The area from car park to shed is very muddy and slippy, we do have some field improvements planned this week to help, the lower part of the field down to the hump and tyres is not to muddy as this area drains well, we have paused the torch walks at this site to minimise the amount of paws and feet on the grass 🐾

Paws Paddock Sulhamstead
As usual this is our worst hit field, we have clay soil which takes longer to drain and holds the water, we still have the hard standing car park and bark around the shed but the rest of the field has muddy/boggy patches and is slippy underfoot, if your dog does not like mud please use the re-schedule option if needed

Please stay safe with the extra water on the road and hopefully with the sunny week forecast we can dry out a little!

We have been posting recently about our current fields and this week we thought we would share some updates about fields we have in planning with local councils

Little London, New Road
Over the last year we have been supporting this application by carrying out addition surveys at the councils request, these have all been reviewed and the application goes in front of the planning committee next Wednesday 6th December, Basingstoke council have recommended this application for approval but it does depend on how it is viewed in the committee meeting, this decision will be a clear approve or refuse and we should be able to share the news at the end of next week 🐾🐕

🌟 New Application 🌟
Midgham, New Road Hill
Case number 23/02573/FULMAJ
We are so excited to finally have this field in planning the field is just under 6 acres (similar size to our big Tilehurst field)
West Berkshire Council have registered this today and the application is open for comments 🐾🐕

South Basingstoke, Dummer, Garlic Lane
Following comments and feedback we are preparing surveys to review and support this application, the latest is a noise impact assessment that environmental health have requested, we will be submitting any extra information the council require over the next couple of months and will be reviewing with them this application

We do have another walking area we have recently agreed the lease on and once this is ready to go into to planning process we will share some more info 🐾🐕

This weeks final feature field is Paws Paddock

Paws Paddock is located in Sulhamstead on Sulhamstead Road, the field has its own coded access gate directly from the road,
This field is our smallest site but at 1.5 acres still has lots of running space, the maximum number of dogs you can bring with you on the booking is 6, as always the field is not shared and is for private use only

🐕 6 Foot fence dug in for extra security
🐕 Garden sized agility set
🐕 Coded electric gate
🐕 Complimentary Tea & Coffee shed
🐕 Running mains water & dog bowls
🐕 Picnic area with table and chairs
🐕 Poo bins and bags provided

Anything to be aware of-
This site is in a busier location and you can get walkers around the outside of the paddock, this means it may not suit reactive dogs,
This site does get muddy in the winter season, we have clay based mud at this site which takes a little longer to drain, there is wood chip around the shed to improve the journey from your car to shed but there are some muddy patches in the field,

Sessions at this field are our best value at £10 per hour during the week and £11 for the hour at the weekend

This weeks feature field is Woodland Walkies

Woodland Walkies is located in Tilehurst on Pincents Lane, the walk has its own coded access gate which is seperate to Bark & Bounds which is accessed from the same site, the Woods has our smallest car park fitting just 2 cars in the parking enclosure,

🐕 6 Foot fence dug in for extra security
🐕 Natural playground
🐕 Coded electric gate
🐕 Complimentary Tea & Coffee shed
🐕 Running mains water & dog bowls
🐕 Picnic area with table and chairs

Anything to be aware of-
The site is quite hilly and is hard to navigate if you have limited mobility,
The woods is a totally natural environment and we do everything we can to ensure this is supported please take the normal precautions you would when walking in any woodland,
This site does get muddy in rainy season, we put woodchip paths down to minimise this but we do still get very muddy patches, there is a hose pipe outside the tea shed to wash off after bounding around
Sessions at this field are £11 per hour during the week and £13 for the hour at the weekend

As with all our sites the booking is for private use and your field will not be shared with any other customers

This weeks feature field is Fido’s Field,

Fido’s Field is located in Bradfield and is found on Dark Lane, the site has its own private access track and this is a great site for anyone worried about noisy barkers as we have no houses, footpaths or livestock in the vicinity,
Fidos field has a large in field parking area for up to 6 cars, we have no dog limit at this field but we do have a maximum vehicle allowance of 6 cars at any time
