SHUA Trust Home & Sanctuary SHUA is now a Cat Sanctuary run by a handful of volunteers, working in Barry and the Vale of Glamorga ALL MEDICAL EMERGENCIES NEED TO GO TO YOUR NEAREST VET.

A registered Charity, SHUA now operates as a Sanctuary for over 100 permanent feline residents

We are proud to be raising awareness and supporting the pets foundation Santa Paws Appeal in pets at home barry. You have all been amazing this weekend is a final push remember Shua receives half if the funds raised which with our last 2 months being dreadful this will be a great help.

Sorry we have been quite for a while we have busy dealing with a rat infestation from building works going on down the road. They have destroyed our wooden bedding store and roughly our food stores roughly £2,500 which means our winter food supply is short . We have had to hire 2 skips dismantle 2 sheds and lay concrete down and we were lucky enough to be given a large metal storage shed which we are in the process of erecting. We were also hit by storm Daragh we lost 2 roofs which we are repairing as well so an expensive few months if you are looking for christmas gifts outfits toys etc pop along to our SHUA Charity Shop in high st we are open Tues weds Thurs sat 10-4 we will also be at pets at home barry on Saturday why not pop along and say HI .... here's the story in barry & district.

This is the last day for you to be in the draw for this fabulous blanket. Do you have your ticket?

It's going to cost us an additional
£2k (at least) this coming winter to keep the furbabies warm. This is just to heat all the 'pods', heat the pens and chalets, microwave to warm over Forty Snugglesafe heat pads , every night at 6 minutes each one - praying that our microwave ovens keep working. We have to wash and artificially dry (not much warm sunshine that time of year) all their bedding and blankets - The outdoor lighting is on for an additional five hours each day also - its pitch dark here by 5.00pm and we are still often feeding and cooking and placing heatpacks around gone 10.00pm
This is an annual 'extra' expense that we cannot avoid on top of the food, vets and every thing else.
So, a cunning plan has been hatched....

The WINTER WARMER RAFFLE !!

This exquisite bed throw has been lovingly and exquisitely crocheted for SHUA. The lady is an older individual who was battling breast cancer but is now thankfully cancer free. ...but every evening for over three months, she diligently crafted this for us. Can you help us raise these extra needed funds by helping us sell special raffle tickets to everyone you know or meet.

But whoever wins this will be in possession of piece of usable ART. It should become a family heirloom to pass down through generations for many many years to come. As you all know, I've been 'around' quite a bit... this bed throw is more than worthy of a gallery or museum place. It is truly one of the most exquisite hand made items I have ever seen, let alone had custody of.

We will also have additional prizes as well.

This is why our fundraising events are so important..... 'Well' we had a lovely Saturday evening our pregnant queen Arabella gave birth to SIX gorgeous babies all are doing well. 😻

We are at pets at home Barry from 10-4 today. We have name the furbaby plus some cuddly toys & necklaces. Plus you can but raffle tickers for the gorgeous crochet blanket and also tickets for our event on Saturday. 🐾🐈‍⬛🐾

We would like to say a massive thankyou to the lovely family who we met at Barry Waterfront this afternoon. They were out for a Sunday stroll, when they noticed some adult seagulls - the parents - going frantic to try and save one of their youngsters. The youngster had spotted a sparkling 'treat' - swallowed it without realising it was a shiny fish hook, still attached to the line - which was caught by the lead weight in the crevices of the Dock wall! The father managed to scramble and retrieve the baby, but the hook was way down its throat and already stuck. With Vets4Pets closed (Sunday) and the family on foot,we raced the poor baby to the emergency out of hours VETS in Pentyrch. This lovely dad was HERO of the day - for us, for gull but especially for his children . What a brilliant example to show them that every living creature deserves and needs us all to try our best to help them in times of need.

When you have contacted us regarding a stray we have done our utmost to help but sadly they turned into cases that were unhomable wether it be medical or behaviour issues that's why we had to go from a rescue to a sanctuary. We are desperate to raise funds to carry on looking after these guys (volume on). Here's some sitting in the garden allowed to 🐈‍⬛🐾🐈‍⬛

🩷 Update on 'Patti' 🩷 Just look at that face 😽 she is doing ok she is eating but you have to sit with her she doesn't like other foods but loves dreamies. She had a check up as she dribbles from weeing which she doesn't like as the puppy pad gets wet but think this is from bruising and will be keeping a close eye on her she definitely plays on your heart strings.🐾 Thank you so much for offering a donating for Patti it's truly appreciated ♥️ here's the details .... Our Story

A registered Charity, SHUA is a Safe House for Unwanted Animals.

SHUA is a Cat Sanctuary to over 100 resident cats. We never allow a healthy animal to be put to sleep, hence the population currently at our sanctuary. Most of our residents are feral, stray’s or have costly health issues attached to them rendering them unable for adoption.

We operate a Charity Shop in 97 High St, Barry to help finance the Sanctuary which includes: Vet bills, food, heated pods, cleaning, maintenance, specialised medication, flea & worm treatments, Scratch post / toys, Biffa Waste disposal services - the list id endless.

We solely rely on these donations and a handful of volunteers to operate our Charity and keep the Sanctuary running.
