Dora doing some party tricks. Need to try this out in class.
I've seen this Fun Dog Show advertised on the North East agility page. For anyone interested in trying out agility there is a "Have a go agility" and the "Fun Dog Show" categories might be good to enter. Contact details for the organiser is in the screenshot.
We've had a whole range of 121s over the last few months with amazing dogs and their handlers including these amazing pups below.
Key things to sort any issues out are:
- Ensure your dog can do the main command of sit and focus (down and stand are a bonus) anywhere and under different situation, not just in the house or garden. Practice this regularly in different environments with different distractions.
- Walk and train your dog in different environments, don't get comfortable with going to the field around the corner, branch out and work in different environments and just adjust your expectations and your targets.
- work on hand feeding your dog to ensure they work for food or a toy in different environments to support training
- work hard on your recall command in different safe environments, use a long line to support this, along with treats and toys. Keep your recall command (word - not the dog's name) precious, so that it isn't used, unless they need your pup to come back when you are out and about
- Ensure your dog is getting enough undisturbed rest through the day (for young dogs this should be about 16-17 hours a day (8 hours at night and 8 through the day)).
⚠️SEEDS alert‼️✴️⚠️.
Everyone needs to be making sure you do your daily checks on your dogs as the long grass is seeding and the seeds latch on to dog's fur and dig in their skin. Obi's owner monitors him so well and at the first sign of an issue was able to get Obi to the vets to get him sorted.
Check the comments for Obi having fun in the garden with his lamp shade on.

Milo's recent 121 focused on heel work and retraining how he deals with dogs that approach. He and his owner did an amazing job and had huge progress in a short period of time. Training a sit and dogs remaining calm and focusing on their handler with approaching dogs is a great way to retrain dogs to have clear instructions on what they should be doing around distractions. Milo is so keen to learn and please that he cracked all the challenges set. Great team.

Jasper's heel work is coming on amazingly well. I love how he is asked to do positions on the move to check he's listening and managing any charging ahead. Louise also has the lead behind her leg, which can help to maintain loose lead walking.
Wow. Look at Flynn go. Cracking recall, with a whistle. This little dog is coming on so well, with the support of his amazing family.
Jasper working on watching exciting/ energetic activity and developing calmness. Amazing work, that is coming on so well. For any dog but especially one that is a working breed these are amazing skills. Jasper is taking agility from our fun classes to a more competitive level and these skills will support him thinking and listening to his handlers commands before, during and after their work in the ring.
Obi doing some amazing recall work, love the slow motion as he is so fast. He's doing amazingly well and is still very young. Top tip for everyone: do what Obi's owner is working on and become the most exciting thing in your dog's life, minimise the amount they play with other dogs (if they do play, ensure it is controlled and you say when it starts/ stops, becareful who they play with) and have fun/ games with your dogs and your recalls will become as good as Obi's in this video.
