🚨Home boarding information🚨

As mentioned in my previous post I have now been granted a licence for home boarding by Sunderland Council. I have had a few enquiries already for next year so if you're interested in using the service and know your holiday dates please get in touch.

Some things to consider if you are interested in using the service:

Before accepting any bookings I will arrange a free meet and greet, at my home so we can get to know each other, fill in all the relevant paperwork and the dog can familiarise themselves with the house. I will also need to see a copy of your dog's vaccination record.

After this all dogs must have a mandatory trial night charged at the standard nightly rate of £30 for first dog then £15 for any additional. This is to make sure they are happy and settled.

If everything goes okay then a booking can be secured for 20% of the total amount with the rest payable 24hrs before the booking starts. Advanced bookings will be a minimum of 3 nights I may have availability for last minute 1-2 night stays please get in touch to check.

You must nominate an emergency contact who will be willing to take the dogs whilst you are away if an emergency occurs, or in the event they demonstrate any of the below behaviours. You must make them aware of this.

I can not accept dogs who's behaviour may negatively impact on myself , my home or my neighbours. These include but are not limited to excessive barking or anti-social behaviour, aggression towards any humans or animals, scent marking or toileting in the home (exceptions will be given to puppies or very old dogs), separation anxiety, howling and destructive behaviour.

The conditions of the licence mean your dog(s) will not be left for more than 3 hours in any 24hr period. They will be left however for a short period of time so must be able to be left in the home without exhibiting any of the above behaviours.

I unfortunately at the moment can not accept any dogs who are raw fed as this would require a FSA qualification. As I am currently completing my Level 2 Canine and Welfare qualification I just don't have time for another. It may be something I look at doing in the future.

Just literally got the email to say ive been granted a licence 🎉🥳

🚨Long post alert🚨
Just a bit of an update on my home boarding application. I have had my home inspection which I think went well 🤞. There was one thing to do in the garden which was put in a fence panel to block access to the side of the house which I've done. To be honest it has been quite a stressful process for me, you have to pay the £295.25 licence fee when you apply which is non refundable. This means if im not awarded a licence I've lost that money 😢. I've had to produce lots of policies and procedures e.g. cleaning regime, exercise regime, emergency procedure etc I submitted a 28 page document with all this in when I applied. I have to have a level 2 OFQUAL recognised qualification in canine care which has cost £300 and I've purchased, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, fire blanket and a carbon monoxide detector. Once you have the licence it doesn't mean you then have it forever, you have to reapply every 1, 2 or 3 years depending on the period of the licence. As stressful as it's been I do understand why these things have to be done, as dogs are part of the family and making sure they are cared for and having all their needs met is extremely important. I think the point of my post is, that if someone has gone through this process to obtain a licence, then they are committed to doing everything they can to make sure they are giving the dogs the best care possible because it isn't an easy process.

Early start today with the 2 Amigos missing their 3rd Amigo Teddy. It was a lot cooler and Enzo had lots of drink stops but Alfie just kept jumping on the water rather than drinking it 🤣. Forgot to post yesterday. Morning walk with Jax and Ted of course Jax managed to find all the muddy puddles and we also met some new friends along the way. Then lunchtime walk with Teddy who went crazy sniffing all over the field. Unfortunately had to cancel my afternoon walk even though it wasn't as hot as it had been, Jax and Kobe are 2 very high energy dogs who do a lot of running and chasing so it just wasn't worth the risk.

Looks set be a warm week this week. I will be keeping an eye on temperatures and if needs be changing walks to pop ins.

Early start today switched the 3 Amigos from their afternoon walk to morning. The weather was due to be warm and 2 of the group are brachycephalic breeds so it's extra important to look after them in the heat. We had lots of water breaks and they had fun jumping in the muddy puddles ❤️

Jax and Kobe having fun together and also managing to find those muddy puddles 🤣

Skyla enjoying her walk wasn't a fan of the chicken or the work vans half way down the track 🤣

Teddy also knew I had left over Chicken on his lunchtime walk 🤣

Nice little solo with Mac this morning 💙 We had fun playing with the ball until I accidentally threw it into a big bush and even though he tried really hard Mac couldn't find it. My throwing skills are obviously as good as my camera skills 🤦‍♀️

Poor Jax and Kobe got drenched this afternoon and Jax didn't want to get out of my car bless him, those puppy dog eyes 😢 You wouldn't think that him and Kobe had been running around having the best time ever just before this 🤣

Busy day today over 23000 steps and I've enjoyed every minute. Love my job 🥰
