Meet Gizmo the Pug!

Gizmo is here to begin his journey with hydrotherapy to support his health and well-being. He’s been diagnosed with Pug Myelopathy, a neurological condition that causes progressive hind limb weakness.

Our goal is to help Gizmo maintain his muscle strength, mobility, and stability through gentle, guided hydrotherapy sessions. 🐾💦

Gizmo had his first session with us last week, and we couldn’t be prouder of how brave he was! It took a little time for him to get comfortable in the water, but before long, he was acting like a pro — as if he’d been doing sessions for ages! 🐶👏🏻

Meet Foxy the Dachshund puppy!

Foxy had his very first swimming session with us, and he absolutely wowed us — a true natural in the water! 🐾💦

With his older brother Teddy by his side, Foxy was eager to follow his big brother’s lead and give swimming a try. He quickly took to it, showing confidence and a sense of curiosity. His favourite part? Chasing after a pink octopus toy — he was coming off the pod with barely any hesitation and swimming after it with so much enthusiasm! 🐙

We can’t wait to see Foxy’s confidence grow as he continues his hydrotherapy journey.

Have you ever wondered why we don’t just pick up the dog and plop them into the pool? Why spend all that time encouraging them to use the ramp? Why not just let them jump in themselves? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Here’s why…

At Paws in Motion, we focus on creating positive, rewarding sessions to build trust and a bond with each dog. For dogs who have had bad experiences around water or are shy and unsure in new environments, the last thing we want to do is force them into the water by picking them up or pushing them in. That approach will only cause more fear and distress, and it’s unsafe for everyone. ⛔️⚠️

Instead, we use patience, kindness, and positive reinforcement to help dogs feel safe and confident at their own pace. It can be challenging, but believe us — with persistence and gentle encouragement, the results are truly worth it! 🐶🥰👏🏻

Meet Monty the Cocker Spaniel!

Monty is attending hydrotherapy for rehabilitation after having TPLO surgery. 👩🏼‍⚕️

When we first met Monty, he was very shy. He’d never experienced swimming before so we weren’t sure what to expect from his first session, but once again, dogs surprise us in the best way! 🐶👏🏻

During his first hydrotherapy session, Monty quickly gained confidence, especially after meeting our hydrotherapists during his initial assessment. He was more attentive and eager to try something new.

Our focus now is on building Monty’s confidence in the water while helping him strengthen his hindlimb joints and build muscle—all while having fun! He’s a quick learner, and we’re so proud of how well he did in his first session. 🐾💦

We can’t wait to see Monty progress and enjoy many more sessions with us.

Meet Digby the Labrador puppy!

Digby has joined us for our puppy swim sessions to help build his confidence in and around water in a safe, controlled environment.

Digby is a bubbly, confident little pup on land — always full of energy and excitement. But like many young pups, his first swim session was a new adventure! He started full of enthusiasm, wriggly and eager to explore. He was a bit unsure about certain things, such as the shower, but he took everything in stride. When it came to entering the pool, Digby showed real confidence — he walked down the ramp and entered the water with no hesitation! 🐶

As the session continued, Digby demonstrated how easily young pups can become overstimulated in new environments. While he started strong, he got a little more interested in splashing and snapping at the water as playfulness took over. While this is perfectly normal for a curious pup, we encourage them to focus on learning self-control and listening to commands—important tools for safe water confidence and manageable walks. 🌊

Overall, Digby did brilliantly in his first session! It’s a wonderful reminder that each dog is unique — some are outgoing and confident on land, but their true swimming style and comfort level only emerge once they’re in the pool. 🐾💦

We’re looking forward to seeing Digby grow more comfortable and confident in the water. Stay tuned for more updates and puppy adventures! 👏🏻

Meet Bailey the Labrador!

Bailey is here for our specially tailored Senior Swims, designed to support older dogs with mobility and stability. While Bailey isn’t currently facing any specific issues—just starting to slow down—his owners wanted to give him every chance to stay fit, active, and happy as he ages. 🐶

Bailey was a little unsure at first but was happy to follow the guidance of our hydrotherapists. To make his session more fun, we introduced a tennis ball, and that’s when Bailey truly came to life! His owners loved seeing him so engaged and having fun during his first session. 🐾💦🎾

Meet Ralphie the Bischon Frise!

Ralphie is attending hydrotherapy sessions for post-TPLO surgery. While Ralphie has already made great progress and is walking well, hydrotherapy will play a key role in building muscle strength helping to support his joints for a healthy, active future. 🐶

At first, his owners were a bit unsure how Ralphie would handle his first session — especially since he's what we call a “puddle dodger,” not keen on getting his paws wet let alone going swimming! But surprise, surprise — Ralphie got stuck right in and looked to be enjoying himself increasingly more as the session went on! 🐾💦

Meet Casanova, also known as Caz, the Labrador!

Caz has already attended a couple of sessions for fun and fitness. As a young, lively dog, he’s full of energy, and his owner hopes that regular hydrotherapy sessions will help burn off some of that excess energy while giving Caz something new and enjoyable to look forward to. 🐶👏🏻

His first session was a bit uncertain, but with patience and encouragement, we built a bond and helped make his experience a positive one. By his second session, Caz came in full of confidence and ready to dive in! We used a ball for motivation, and the transformation was incredible — he was like a completely different dog, happy, engaged, and eager to play.

We’re so proud of Caz’s progress and excited to see him continue enjoying his hydrotherapy sessions! 🐾💦
