A visit to the vets, which for some of our pups can be a stressful event.
My boy Max isn’t a fan of these outings, so in this video you will see me doing positive association training around “look” and “down” commands, praised with a small treat. You can try similar exercises to help prevent negative associations or to help your dog re-build a positive association.

Obedience and practical skills class plan done for tomorrow :-)
In my previous video you saw Stanton before and during his training programme of 1 week board and train. Here see his progress at the end. Very proud of Stanton and his owners now have the tools to continue with him. Contact me at [email protected] if you want help with training. Classes | 121 | Residential
Meet Stanton, he is an adorable, but rather over excited Labrador! This is not always characteristic of his breed but if he is working lines (which I suspect) this would contribute to the result of a high energy, high drive dog and on top of this the lad is coming into the age where his testosterone levels are rising (a common point of frustration for many dogs and their owners between 6months-2years).Stanton has been excessively barking and jumping up at his owner's and pulling on the lead, which made for very unpleasurable walks. He came to me on a short board and train to reset his unwanted behaviour, using reward and positive reinforcement. This will mean Stanton’s owner can hit the ground running and carry on with his training from a much more manageable stage. In my video’s you will see me use heel work, controlled play and the “look” methods repeatedly to concentrate his mind and calm him down.Stanton needs plenty of mental stimulation and direction as you can see, he is easily distracted, so giving him a “job” focuses the brain and in turn I can reward and reinforce the behaviour we want and continue to shape his behaviour positively from there. Please take a look at the video’s to see Stanton’s progress and follow my stories to see how Stanton has improved by the end of his board and train.
