Lost Dog Storm: 4th U P D A T E
Great news ! Little Storm has picked up the trail mix, followed his nose & last night he made his way to the trap !!!
We watched him follow the trail we had laid, slowly sniffing along right to the trap door !
He returned frequently throughout the night to the trap, slowly building his courage to enter.
Now it’s just a matter of time before Storm builds up the courage to go further in and trigger the door to release & shut behind him !
Remember … Storm is in SURVIVAL MODE
SURVIVAL MODE:
Although it’s difficult to believe, when a dog is in survival mode, it’s almost always impossible to catch them.
As several people hopefully realised yesterday when they tried to catch him. Treats from a stranger simply will not work and potentially make Storm so scared he will bolt miles away on pure adrenaline and not return to the area.
Right now, thanks to all the sightings, the trail mix, the drones we have Storm staying in the area BUT, if people continue to shout at him or chase he will become more reactive & defensive, as well as more inclined to run away or hide from any perceived threats... even from his owners.
So please spread the word to everyone to do the following ;
DO NOT:
❌ Do not call out
❌ Do not chase
❌ Do not whistle
❌ Do not get eye contact
❌ DO NOT post sightings on social media
DO: report sightings to 07523366738
✔️ Ring the lost dog trapping team
✔️ Report time
✔️ Report location
✔️ Report direction of travel
SOCIAL MEDIA:
We are asking people not to post or report any sightings on social media, as we are very keen not to draw extra people to the area he is in which may result in him moving on. Instead, please report all sightings to: 07523 366738
If too many people come to the area, he will feel threatened & move on, which means we have to start the process all over again by mapping his route & finding a good location to put the trap etc...
TRAIL MIX:
Our trail mix recipe is a well tried & tested mix of blended ingredients designed to leave a scent trail directing the dog to the safety of the trap.
The very irresistible smell catches the dogs attention & they literally follow their nose to the trap & the banquet of food inside the humane trap. The trail mix is a liquid & NOT a food source at all.
The process of cooking, blending & laying the trail mix is repeated every night along with cooking a BBQ banquet at the trap location.
BANQUET:
To tempt Storm into the trap, every night we light a BBQ and cook up an irresistible feast of bacon, sausages and chicken etc. Food to make Storm drool and desire so he overcomes his fear of entering the trap.
Thank you everyone for your support, donations, sightings & cooperation so far. We will keep you posted.
