We’ve had some really hot weather over the past two days and would like to share some advice to all of our lovely owners to keep your pets safe in this heat! 🥵🐾

XL BULLY NEUTERING DEADLINES

- If your dog was 12 months or older on January 31st 2024 - they must be neutured by JUNE 30TH 2024!

- If your dog was between 7 and 12 months old on January 31st 2024 - they must be neutured by December 31st 2024

- If your dog was less than 7 months old on January 31st 2024 - they must be nurtured by June 30th 2025

A glucose curve is a commonly performed procedure with our diabetic patients which involves a series of measurements of blood glucose to determine the effectiveness of insulin

Here are 5 signs that your dog may be diabetic:

1. Drinking more than normal 💦
2. Urinating more than normal 🚽
3. Tiredness 💤
4. Sweet smelling breath 🍬
5. Poor eyesight 👁️

PYOMETRA 🐾👩🏼‍⚕️

Definition:
Pyomtra is an infection in the uterus which causes it to fill with pus and bacteria. This condition can be potentially life threatening and in most cases is considered a medical emergency

Symptoms:
- Excessive thirst 💦
- Vaginal discharge (not always present)
- Abdominal discomfort 😓
- Fever 🤒
- Lethargy 💤
- Reduced appetite🍴

Prevention:
The best way to prevent pyometra is to spay female cats and dogs. Removing the uterus by neutering completely eradicates the risk of pyometra

🐱6 CLUES THAT YOUR CAT MAY BE UNWELL🐱

1. Food🍴
If your cat suddenly eats more, less or not at all this could be an indicator that something is wrong

2. Water 💦
Drinking more could be an indicator of diabetes, kidney disease, hyperthyroidism or more

3. Toileting 🚽
If your cat is suddenly unable to urinate - contact us immediately

4. Vomiting or diarrhoea 💩
This could be a sign of gastrointestinal upset or obstruction, parasites and more

5. Grooming 👅
If your cat stops grooming or starts over grooming, something could be wrong

6. Bad breath 🦷
This could be an important indicator of dental disease - your cat may need a dental procedure
