RCVS Update.
As of the 1st September 2023 the RCVS has introduced new regulations when dispensing medication.
The main change for us, and you, is that a veterinary surgeon has to perform a physical examination of your pet, not only to prescribe treatment such as antibiotics and controlled drugs, but also for anti-parasitic such as flea and worm treatments.
The reasoning behind this is to carefully assess if and what anti-parasitics are needed to prevent overuse and, ultimately, development of resistances.
We are asking for our clients' patience and understanding while we change our protocols to reflect the new requirements from the RCVS.
In many cases you may not be impacted at all, but you may notice you need an appointment for a physical examination before any flea and worm can be dispensed or if you want to change to a different product (eg; a spot on to a tablet form).
We understand the cost of living is difficult for everyone at the moment, and these additional vet checks may be frustrating, however please understand that this is something out of our control and any abuse towards our staff will not be tolerated.
Thank you in advance or your anticipated cooperation.
