Kevin & Belinda will having a much needed holiday - well it has been over 12 years - from 16 to 29 September.

We will remain open. A lovely couple called Mel and Paul will be running the cattery for us, and essentially they will replace us and live at Drymere Lodge for two weeks looking after the cattery and our own cats and everything else that comes with living at Drymere! Mel and Paul will also look after our home and cattery again for us for a week in December this year, and three stays in 2025. We hope they enjoy! Please be assured we have met Mel and Paul and they will be fully briefed on all our guests and their requiremnets. A testimonial on their business sit at Hotel Catifornia is available at: https://www.dependablehousesitters.co.uk/

Here is a message from Mel and Paul. They have also looked after a cattery in Suffolk three times for their owners (Hotel Catifornia).

Hi everyone, we are Paul and Mel.

We are very excited to be coming up to Norfolk and looking after your lovely cats whilst Belinda and Kevin have a well earned break. We love cats and have owned a number of lovely boys and girls over the years.

Three years ago we sold our successful Country House Hotel in West Wales which was located at the gateway to the Cambrian Mountains. We were delighted to have won the Good Hotel Guide Dog Friendly Award 2022 for our Hotel. After many years in hospitality, which we thoroughly enjoyed, we decided to launch Dependable Housesitters where we look after businesses, pets and houses.

We have been all over the UK and recently to Cyprus looking after cats and dogs. Cats we have looked after include long and short hair, Burmese, Maine C**n, Persian and many regular cats each with their own fabulous personalities.

We love pet sitting and getting to know each new cat and looking forward to meeting some of you in September.

We are now full for Christmas period 24th to 27th December.

POLITE NOTICE TO CLARIFY OUR POLICY:- Whilst we don't charge for cancellations, we appreciate as much notice as is possible so we can try and relet the pens during our full periods. If no notice is given and a booking is cancelled when the booking period has begun, i.e. on the day of arrival, the period booked is charged. If customers return early from their travels or shorten booking on arrival from the dates booked, we kindly request that the full period is paid. Most catteries charge cancellation fees on a scaled basis depending on how much notice the customer has given: WE DON'T Many catteries charge minimum periods and if you need two days you pay for four: WE DON'T. Many catteries double their charges at Christmas and bank holidays: WE DON'T. If customers return early, the full period booked is payable (all catteries require this). We feel therefore that we are as fair as we can be to customers and therefore would appreciate understanding and cooperation when you return early and ask for a refund. We wouldn't ask a hotel for a refund if we left early. We are unable to let out the required days with no notice and particularly in peak season we will have turned away a number of longer bookings. We thank you all kindly for your understanding. It's been a challenging period recent;ly on these matters! Finally, we ask customers to keep a note of dates booked (as do we) and be clear when booking regarding pick up and collection dates as these are the dates payable unless we receive notice (i..e not on drop off day). In case of any queries or lack of clarity, please get in touch. Thank you. Belinda & Kevin

We have had numerous bookings shortened on drop off day again over the past two weeks, and it's usually too late for us to fill the unwanted dates.

We kindly ask if your booking requirements change please advise us as soon as you know of the change and not to wait until you drop off.

We are pretty much at full capacity now until the end of September. Each day one customer taking a day or two off their booking can by the end of the week result in us losing a week's booking! It might seem trivial but when it adds up it costs us in lost bookings and places other customers could have had. Hence, our policy of asking customers to pay for the full period booked once the booking period has begun. We now have more than three A4 sheets of names of people waiting for a cattery space over the next two and a half months. It's less about money for us and more about providing the much needed service due to the shortage of catteries in the area! Many of you will understand this, and have experienced the frustration and disappointment. Many thanks.

It's really infuriating when "new" customers fail to show when we have turned long standing customers away. Doubly annoyed this evening when calling up a "no show" to be told they didn't know who we were or why we were ringing and denied ever visiting to view or making any bookings (in fact 3 were made). Even denied they had any cats! So, sadly as a result of this we will be increasing our deposit for new customers to 50% and tightening up on our procedures to prevent this happening again. If anyone needs a booking for June please call us, equally, 25 September onwards we have availability. Many thanks.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: We will no longer be taking bookings by Facebook Messenger due to it's unreliability (messages don't always come through on time and we lose bookings), and also because it is leading to forgotten bookings and stressful bookings management having to check so many different media several times a day. We are sure we are not the only ones who sometimes feel overwhelmed by it all in this modern age (2 mobiles with Texts, WhatsApp and Voice Calls, plus a landline, Facebook and emails!) We find ourselves checking 9 different options each day We need to streamline things a little and have thus put an Automation on Facebook to advise of this, and apologies for any inconvenience. We prefer bookings where possible by phone (landline ideally) 01760 723468, mobile is 07825 002286 or email belinda&[email protected]. We sometimes also have problem with mobile voice mails coming through at a date later than the date of the message so this isn't always totally reliable! I always check emails several times a day so unless I am ill you can guarantee a reply within a couple of hours. We are planning to have some holidays so this will make it easier for staff covering in our absence as mobiles will be having a holiday with us! We would prefer not to take bookings if possible by text and WhatsApp while we are on holiday as this will cause bookings to clash with those taken by staff while we are away, however we will advise of the dates nearer to that time. With many thanks. Belinda & Kevin

Running a cattery is a cat lover's dream. We are seeking to add to our bank of emergency helpers; however, this is not a full or part-time or casual job that can work around school hours etc. We are seeking something different. This is paid work. It may only entail a few days every few months, or very random if a funeral or family/medical emergency occurs for us. We are seeking committed, 100% reliable individual(s) who are flexible, hard working, trustworthy, love cats, don't mind lots of cleaning, have owned previously or currently own a cat(s), good customer care skills, an eye for detail, able to maintain our high standards and follow our procedures closely. Full training provided in all aspects of running a boarding cattery. Will require own transport as we are in a rural area. Lots of bending and lifting and carrying so you must be physically fit!! Two separate am/pm shifts with early start between 7 and 8 am until around 11 am to 12 midday and approx 3.30 or 4 pm until around 6 to 7 pm. Usually around 7 to 8 hours per day in total although less in low season. Weekends might be involved. Please email in the first instance and this will be followed up with you. Serious applications only. We have a series of application questions and if appropriate will be followed up by face to face discussion. References may be taken because this entails a huge about of responsibiity for property, animals and our home. Salary/payment will be discussed at interview. We look forward to hearing from you. Thank you. belinda&[email protected]

POLITE REMINDER: Opening times for drop off and collection Mon to Fri 9 to 11 am and 4.30 to 6 pm. Saturday 9 to 11 and 4.30 to 5.30. Sunday 9 to 11 ONLY. Please plan accordingly as this week two instances of customers not checking opening times and turning up unexpectedly when we are closed. If only one of us is here and that person has needed to pop out we cannot be held responsible for missed trains, flights etc. Please also allow plenty of time to check in as sometimes during busy periods there may be a wait. We try to be kind and patient but patience is being stretched as we are so busy and need to sn**ch what precious personal time we can. Yesterday at 1.30 pm we were having a much needed lunch break after a 6 hour shift. Hours are clearly displayed on website and our gate which asks please do not disturb if closed. Thank you for your understanding.

Luxury Cat Boarding

Run by Belinda & Kevin Spruce, both born in Cheshire. We purchased Drymere Lodge in April 2013, after appearing on Escape to the Country (filmed July 2012). We were looking for a property with land to build a cattery. One of the properties they showed us already had a cattery, and the rest is history. We were re-visited by the TV series makers in May 2017 when they made a new series - β€œI Escaped to the Country” and we featured again on television in January 2018!!
