We now have a forward placement for this girl 🙂

One of today’s heartbreaking stories. This girl was reported at about 3pm today tied up near some shops. She was first sighted there at about 8am. She had been left there for 7 hours.
I very much doubt anyone is looking for her as It seems like she has been abandoned. If anyone knows any different or there is a genuine reason this has happened, although I’m struggling to find one. Then please contact me.
She is a very sweet girl and seems non reactive to dogs on very initial tests. She is cropped and chipped but not registered.
We’ve measured her today and thankfully she falls under the measurements of an XL Bully.
Every day we are getting pushed further into gridlock, in my opinion this is only the beginning and I don’t know how we are going to manage. They deserve so much better than this, who just leaves a dog?

These 3 girls are best friends 😍

Mead vets are holding a raffle for a local charity.
New Hope is a charity run by Niall Lester.

Recently new hope helped us with a puppy that had parvo, although Niall knew he was stretched and his bill was just about to get a lot higher by taking on such a complex case, there was no hesitation what so ever. 💰

We have since received the amazing news that the puppy in question not only pulled through but now has an amazing foster home with a view to adopt.🐕

As a thank you to Niall and his fantastic team at New Hope we are holding a raffle to help raise funds to pay off the extremely high bills they have.

We have 3 hampers that we have made 2 human hampers and 1 pet hamper.🐕🐈‍⬛

We will be raffling off one hamper per week
Starting off with a human hamper that has every goodie you could imagine.🥂

Tickets will be on sale at our reception desk, they will be priced at £5 per ticket 🎟
The hamper in question will also be on show in our reception area.

If you are interested in a ticket please pop in and speak to a member of staff who will be happy to help.

☀️ warmer weather means time to montior our small furries ☀️

Flystrike, also known as 'myiasis'
This is a condition caused by flies laying eggs on fur, 🪰
These eggs then hatch into maggots that burrow under their skin and feed on flesh.
Flystrike is an extremely painful condition, and can be deadly if it’s not treated quickly enough.

Any furries can get flystrike.
however, there are some factors which put a rabbit at higher risk of developing this nasty condition-

🐇Time of year – flystrike is more common in the warm, summer months when flies are most active.

🐇Dirty bottoms – dirty, damp fur is the perfect place for flies to lay their eggs, so if your pet has a mucky bottom, they are at high risk of flystrike.

🐇Wounds – flies are attracted to wounds and will choose to lay their eggs around them.

Symptoms of flystrike include-

🐰Maggots in the fur/under the skin

🐰Patches of wet fur and fur loss

🐰Open wounds or sores

🐰Lethargy (low energy)

🐰Eating less

🐰A bad smell

🐰Collapse

Fortunately, there are plenty of ways you can dramatically reduce the chance of your pets developing flystrike

🐾keep them and their houses clean
