How are your pond plants doing this year? If they’ve been slow on growth, colour or flowers, they likely need more food.

Fortunately it’s easy to add long term, slow release nutrients with fertiliser balls. Simply push one (or more for extra large specimens!) into the soil at the base of the plant. This is especially important for hungry lilies.

There are many advantages that come with floating pond plants! They can help keep your pond clean. Pond plants have a lot more to offer then just aesthetic beauty.

✅️Add shade to the ecosystem
✅️Filter and clean the water
✅️Absorb extra nutrients in the ecosystem
✅️Balance PH levels in the water
✅️Add character and beauty to the water
✅️Provide habitat for fish

🫧Oxygenating pond plants are an essential part of any pond ecosystem and perform a number of important functions that help maintain your pond. They are so named as any greenery that grows naturally underwater will produce oxygen during the day and so help to oxygenate the water, which will benefit all pond life.

One of the key benefits of oxygenators is to help absorb any excess nutrients, such as nitrogen and phosphate in the pond on which algae feed, thereby depriving the algae of the nutrients it needs to thrive and helping to reduce and control it.

Apart from this oxygenators provide shade to help keep the water cooler (algae love warm water which is why it becomes a problem in Spring as the water warms up) and provide cover, food and egg-laying sites for amphibians and other pond life.

🐌Pond Snails are mainly scavengers that feed on algae, plant debris and other detritus in ponds and are part of a healthy pond ecosystem.
