As the only city farm in Wales we help to reconnect people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities with their food, their environment and each other through a unique and exciting range of educational, volunteering, training and play opportunities. Our 3.5 acre fully accessible site demonstrates a range of sustainability and nature conservation management techniques as well as hosting a range of rare and rare-Welsh breed farm animals.

We've had a record breaking summer of play here at the farm - just check out this infographic! We had over 877 attendances to our playscheme and served 455 free community lunches thanks to funding from Swansea Council - Not only that, but we were able to put on a number of free and affordable events for our incredible community members. Summer can be an expensive time for families, so we are very proud to be able to provide such great nature based play opportunities for our community members.

We had an amazing team-building day in Bristol today, where we visited three city farms on a whistle-stop tour! 🌱 It was a fantastic opportunity to connect outside the office and see what other city farms are doing for their local communities. Huge thanks to Lawrence Weston Community Farm Windmill Hill City Farm and St Werburghs City Farm for their warm hospitality! It was a great day and reaffirmed to us that we all have the same challenges as charities, but that we’re ultimately all doing a pretty good job of providing awesome green spaces in our communities. ❤️

✨IMPACT✨ Our young volunteers (and staff) were lucky enough to enjoy their annual Farm Residential earlier this month and much fun was had! They got to camp out under the stars and took part in a series of empowering activities designed to build confidence and independence. These experiences are crucial in helping our young people grow, find their strengths, and connect with others in a safe and supportive environment.
Big thanks to Helen Harper who led a fun self-defence class. They took part in an amazing drumming workshop thanks to The Successors of the Mandingue and worked on their Bushcraft Skills with Andrew from Dryad Bushcraft CIC - diolch Andrew! It was all rounded off with our super fun annual goat show!
But what truly made the weekend special was the positive effect we saw in our young people. Here’s what some of the parents had to say:
"The residential helped my child's wellbeing massively—a chance to try to be independent in a safe, nurturing space."
"He hasn't stopped talking about it and can’t wait for the next one!"
"He was nervous about attending the camp and said he wasn’t going. But by Saturday, he called me to say he was having an amazing time. On Sunday, he told me he wished it lasted a few more days.”

Swansea Community Farm, at its core, is a wellbeing charity supporting people with poor mental health, learning disabilities and those recovering from traumatic events in their lives and we help them find purpose when life has made them feel useless. We do all this by providing a community space that needs caring for, awesome specialist staff, fun and diverse volunteering and lots of animal cuddles! Here are some of our volunteering stats turned into a handy infographic. People come to us in crisis and find support, friendship and purpose which helps them change their lives for themselves! It worked for me 18 years ago and now I get the honour of seeing it work over and over for people in need."

Did you know that our playschemes are more than just a fun day out—for many families it's a lifeline and the only chance to experience nature based play so close to home. Here’s what some of our recent visitors have to say about how our summer playscheme has positively impacted their lives:

You may have already spotted the castles that have popped up around Swansea. This free public art trail is running across the city until 15th September and is great free activity to do with the kids over the summer holidays. Some of our amazing young volunteers produced their very own castle, which you can find in the Wales Air Ambulance Shop in the city centre. Our castle is named Castell y Gymuned (meaning community castle) and the design beautifully portrays the vibrant life of our community city farm. Join us this Friday for an extra special playscheme! We’re excited to welcome Evie from Swansea Council who will be leading a 'Big Butterfly Count' on Cadle Heath from 10am to 12pm 🦋✨. This important activity helps scientists understand the effects of climate change on butterflies, so come along and join the fun.
As always, we’ll have our usual array of fun activities around the farm, including messy play, arts and crafts, den building, and more.

Our clever girl Siany has given birth to two beautiful kids this morning at 7:30am. Mum and babies are doing well and resting. We can’t wait for kid cuddles soon. Well done Siany ❤️🐐
We’d like to say a big thank you to Mumbles Brewery Ltd for their fantastic donation of spent grains. Spent grains are a free, brewery waste product and are an amazing source of food for our pigs, goats, donkeys and chickens. With animal food prices pretty much doubling (and not set to drop any time soon), this is a huge win for us as a charity! Diolch ❤️
