🐾 Unkempt nails can cause discomfort and possible injuries to our pets.

While active pets may not require frequent nail clipping, older or less active pets may need more regular trimming. Nail clipping prevents discomfort for your pet whilst they are walking and reduces the risk of more severe foot health issues.

Our Registered Veterinary Nurses offer nail-clipping services to keep your pet's paws comfortable and healthy.

Puppies are adorable, but did you know their first vaccinations are essential for keeping them healthy and safe? 🐾

At six to eight weeks old, it's time to start their vaccine journey, with two injections spaced 2-4 weeks apart. These vaccinations are crucial for protecting them from serious illnesses.

After their second vaccinations, it takes two to four weeks for your puppy to be fully protected, so they'll soon be ready for all the fun - exploring, socialising, and meeting new doggie friends safely! 🐢🌟

Protection lasts for about a year, but annual vaccinations are needed to maintain that immunity and keep your puppy strong and healthy. πŸ›‘οΈ

Regular vaccines are a simple but important way to ensure your puppy stays safe and can enjoy all the tail-wagging adventures without worry! πŸ•πŸ’–

Spring has sprung… step into action to protect your pet! 🐢🐱 🌞

No matter how old your pet is, an annual health check is vital for your pet to ensure they stay happy and healthy.

We strongly believe that prevention is better than cure. Therefore, in a healthcare check, one of our experienced team members will give your pet a nose-to-tail examination and discuss your pet's general health and routine.

A health check includes:
πŸ’‰ Vaccination check
🦷 Dental check
🦟 Parasite check
βš–οΈ Weight management
πŸ•β€πŸ¦Ί Movement and mobility check
πŸ‘€ Eyes and ears check
🐾 Skin and coat check
πŸ’“ Heart check
🫁 Lung check
😺 General well-being and behaviour

If your pet hasn't visited us in a while, book your pet's annual health check today.

With Easter just around the corner, it's important to be aware of potential dangers to your pet when feeding them human food, and hot cross buns are no exception. The dough used to make hot cross buns contains yeast, which can cause digestive upset, bloating, and even alcohol poisoning in pets. Additionally, the raisins and currants used in hot cross buns can be toxic to pets, potentially leading to kidney failure.

As a general rule, it's best to avoid feeding your pet any human food, including hot cross buns. If you're worried that your pet has eaten a hot cross bun, please contact us.

🍫 As much as we all love to indulge in some chocolate over Easter, it is important to remember that it can be dangerous for our pets.

Chocolate poisoning is particularly common at this time of year, especially with the large amounts of Easter eggs that are readily available, and sometimes hidden too. Chocolate contains theobromine, which can be toxic to dogs and cats.

To keep your pet safe, keep all chocolate away from them and opt for pet-safe treats instead.

Did you know your pet's teeth are as unique as their personality? Here are some fun facts about pet teeth:

1️⃣ Puppies and kittens get baby teeth too! 🐢🐱 Just like humans, puppies and kittens have baby teeth that fall out as they grow older. They usually start losing them around 3-6 months!

2️⃣ Dogs have 42 teeth! 😁 That's right! Adult dogs have a full set of 42 teeth – pretty impressive for those little chew machines!

3️⃣ Cats are masters of dental precision! 😼🐾 Cats have 30 teeth, and they're built for precision – their sharp, pointy teeth are perfect for catching and holding prey (even if it's just their favourite toy!).

4️⃣ Dental health = Better health! πŸ₯ Healthy teeth = healthy pets! Poor oral hygiene can lead to bad breath, gum disease, and even heart problems. Brush those teeth regularly (yes, it's possible)!

5️⃣ They're chew-tastic! 🦴 Chewing helps keep your pet's teeth clean and strong. Offer your dog or cat safe dental chews to help maintain their pearly whites!

Bonus Tip: Dental check-ups are a must for your pets' overall health.

πŸΎπŸ’– Did you know our Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) provide post-op checks to help your pet recover after surgery?

Our nurse clinics play an essential role in ensuring that your pet's healing process is smooth and comfortable. One key service we offer is Post-Op Checks, usually scheduled 2 and 10 days after surgery (unless otherwise specified). These checks ensure that your pet is recovering well and help identify any potential issues early on. 🐢🐱

During the check, our RVNs will...
βœ… Examine the incision for signs of infection or discomfort
βœ… Check your pet's temperature and general well-being
βœ… Offer advice on diet, exercise, and medication.

If everything's going well, we'll guide you on how to keep your pet on track as they recover. If there's any concern, we'll consult with the vet to ensure the best care possible. 🩺

After your pet has been discharged, a post-op check-up can be scheduled. If you have any questions, please let us know.

🌷 As spring cleaning kicks into full gear, it's important to remember that while you're tidying up, your pets might be curious about what's going on around the house. 🐢🐱

Inquisitive dogs and curious cats can easily get into household items that could be harmful. Let's ensure your spring-cleaning efforts keep your home safe for everyone!

Here's a list of common household items to watch out for when cleaning around pets:

πŸ”Έ Household cleaning products: Bleach, oven cleaners, laundry detergents, drain cleaners, floor cleaners, and toilet cleaners can be toxic to pets if ingested or inhaled. Always read labels, ventilate areas well, and store products securely and out of reach.

πŸ”Έ Electrical wires and batteries: Pets can chew on cords, leading to potential electrocution. Keep wires out of reach and use protective covers. Batteries should also be stored safely, as they pose choking or poisoning risks.

πŸ”Έ Toys with small parts: Small parts can be a choking hazard. Choose sturdy, durable toys and inspect them regularly for damage.

πŸ”Έ Plastic Bags: Can suffocate or choke pets if ingested or tangled. Keep them stored safely away from pets.

πŸ”Έ Toxic plants: Some spring flowers, like lilies, daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths, can be toxic to pets. Be mindful of these plants, especially around cats.

Pet Protection = Happy Homes πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ’™

When your pet is protected with the right vaccinations, it's not just about their health – it's about creating a safe and happy environment for everyone at home! πŸΆπŸ±πŸ’– A healthy pet means fewer worries and more tail wags, purrs, and unconditional love, giving you the peace of mind that you're doing everything you can to keep them safe.

Vaccines protect more than just your pet - they protect your family and community, too! πŸ›‘οΈ Certain infectious diseases, like leptospirosis in dogs and rabies in both dogs and cats, can be passed to humans. Let's keep our pets safe, our families healthy, and our homes full of joy and love! 🩺✨
