It's a bit different this week! I'd like to welcome my beautiful little helper Ruby!! Whilst Ruby is on school holidays she will be joining me on some of my walks! She loves to chase the dogs around so some of you will have very tired pups ๐๐

The orientation game teaches your dog to reorient to you quickly and starts building a foundation for quick recall.
Paired with โThe Name Gameโ and โProximity Trainingโ (coming soon!) this builds a focus around being close to the owner. Practice in the home first then start adding distractions before taking these games out on a walk with you!
โข Toss food away from you
โข As soon as the dog turns back to you - click andโฆ
โข Toss food again
โข Repeat
Remember;
โข Toss food in different directions
โข Do not nag or coax. He will learn better if you let him figure it out for himself rather than making it easier for him. Be patient!!
โข If he is having trouble work in a smaller space and remove distractions. You can also use higher value treats
โข Add in distractions when he is an expert at this game
โข Throw food towards a distraction
โข Start with small distractions and build up
