This is a tribute post to our smallest member of the Walks and Wags family, Reggie. 🤍

Although the smallest he was definitely the biggest personality, he was full of energy all times of the day and night and loved to play (and chew) his endless amount of toys!😂 He loved running around the house in his ball into everyone’s feet and especially scaring his big sister Solo 😂

We are all blessed to have such loving memories that will stay warm in our hearts forever, We all love and miss you so much, Rest in peace little boy 🤍

Raw bones are an amazing and delicious treat for your dog, it can keep them busy for hours! Please make sure all bones are raw and NOT cooked as this may be dangerous because it can cause internal damage due to splintering as well as other issues such as blockages. 🦴🐾

Just a friendly reminder that all of our pet carers will have been trained in pet first aid. We have a health and safety policy reviewed annually which has to be followed by all staff. We avoid risks by not walking dogs groups larger than three dogs per walker at one time, as we then cannot then give each dog the attention they deserve. However if there is an incident, we will always try to take your pet to your own vet. In the event of an emergency, your pet will be taken to the nearest vets. We will contact you in this instance.

As many of you are aware following the governments recent legislation and the high level of media attention which has followed, since 31 December 2023 it has been against the law to sell, give away or breed an XL bully. It has also made law to keep them on lead and muzzled in public. Then from 1 February 2024 , it will be a criminal offence to own an XL bully without an exemption certificate. Police will have the ability to seize prohibited dogs, and owners could be faced a criminal record and a high fine if seen to not be complying with government legislation.

We have many personal opinions on this matter, as do many and we wanted to inform you all that we will continue accepting XL Bully's as clients and all services will continue as normal. We also want to reach out to all owners which are experiencing hardship during this difficult time and offer a helping hand, any help or advice you need please don't hesitate to contact us. We will be running a trip specifically for XL bullies at a secure field which permits XL bullies to be un muzzled and off lead and give them the opportunity to socialise with one another. If this is something you may be interested in please contact us!

Top three behavioural problems in dogs... 1-Not coming when called. Always praise your pup when they come to you regardless if they are called or not, that teaches them that coming back is a good thing. Use words such as 'here' or 'come' they may not understand what you want if you just use their name. If they decide not to come back then do not chase them. Call them again whilst you move away and that may make them come after you. If they still do not come then tell them to sit and go and get them. Remember having high reward treats on hand such as chicken, cheese, ham or sausages is a huge help. 2-Pulling on the lead. Help your dog to learn how to walk calmly beside you. Never let them pull, or else they will learn that sometimes doing it pays off. Keep the lead short but loose. Stop when you feel it go tight. They will stop to see why you are not moving. When they come back, reward them and keep walking. After a few days they will find out that pulling will get them nowhere, it takes some dogs longer than others but the most important thing is to be consistent. Remember having high reward treats on hand such as chicken, cheese, ham or sausages is a huge help. 3-Jumping up. Its natural for dogs to greet people by jumping up. But that can scare guests away and knock young children over etc. Turn away if your dog jumps on you. Don't give your dog attention unless they have all four paws on the ground. Then you can greet and pet them. There are several ways to tackle this issue, however the one listed above has proven to be the most effective. Featuring Eddie training at Shaw Forest.
