We have lost a wonderful queen her family has lost their mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and auntie, many of us have known this loss in our own families, our thoughts and prayers are with them all. 🙏

A big thankyou to all our customers who's grooms were cancelled by us due to extreme weather conditions, even with air conditioning in salon and dryers on cold it still was to hot to groom, like us, your priority was with the welfare of your family members. Going forward we will allways follow the guidelines set out by the animal welfare act to ensure a safe environment for all customers many thanks annie and Charlie x

A huge thanku to hollywoods customers so far I've handed over £90 to food fairies to help with food and supplies for the Ukraine, every penny and bags of dog food is a life savour for these poor people and animals who's lifes have been thrown into chaos, thanku to all of you who have allready donated, you are stars. If any one wishes to help we are collecting here at Hollywoods, we will transport any donations to food fairies for you. X###

Good morning all, with all that is going on in Ukraine at the moment, the suffering to humans and animals our thoughts and prayers are with them all. We would like to help in anyway we can so we have been in contact with food fairies and this Sunday I'm going to deliver funds we have collected, if any of our customers would like to donate food, money or any type of animal medication that could help rescue in these hard times I will gladly transport for you this doesn't have to be a one off trip we will deliver anything at any time. 📣Dear Customers,📣

We kindly ask you to not knock on the window or come round to the door. The dogs in our care will hear it or see you, and will become distressed. These distractions are incredibly dangerous for the dogs on the table. We work with live animals and very sharp scissors and blades, which can cause injury. We also cannot move from the dog due to safety purposes.
We at Hollywoods work hard to maintain a safe and calm environment. If you have arranged a pick up or drop off, we do know you are there; please be patient with us. We ask you to wait outside the gate or in your car and we will be right with you.

If you have any queries in general, please call us and we will phone you back after our appts.

Hello all, recently I've had a few very worried customers who has seen on Facebook about a pup who tragically died due to a drying cabinet being used to dry them. We want all our customers to know we donot use equipment like this in our salon, all our pups are dryed by hand so we can allways monitor our pups, ###

Just so pleased we can help

We are once again thankful to Hollywood Pet Grooming Services for a financial donation. Today we received £15. It will be used to send good quality food to trainee vet Andreea (Theea) Apati. Theea rescued this beautiful (and sadly thin) girl today together with two others. Once this calm beauty has put on weight, been spayed and prepared to travel, she will be up for adoption. She has had a tough 6-7 years on this planet but her luck has now changed thanks to Theea. If you can open your heart and home to her please contact Apati Andreea 🥰

✅ 20 plastic dog beds heading to Slobozia Kill Shelter ✅

Tonight 20 plastic beds were collected and will soon be heading to Andreea who co-ordinates caring for the Slobozia Kill Shelter dogs.

When Fairy Sammy recently met Andreea in Romania this was top of Andreea’s wishlist. These beds will mean the dogs will no longer be sleeping on the concrete.

We have also sent over 48kgs of dried chicken/duck (can’t remember 🙄) fillets for the dogs to enjoy at the shelters Andreea visits. If nothing else, these sweethearts can have some yummy treats!

Thank you to each and every one of you who has donated a bed or two to us. We had a large stash of them here so it’s great to see them going to where they’re needed.

Who remembers Zappa our resuce boy who we groomed for food fairies. Well on my visit to Sammy yesterday I was told the most fantastic news, he's been adopted and now living the life of luxury in a amazing family who totally adore him. Also this months donations (£70) also paid for the cost of sending beds to Romania resuce, so more pups like Zappa will be much warmer this winter a big well done to you all your help is so appreciated by all ###

This beautiful huge pup was given to me last week by a friend who recently lost her beloved pup, she asked if it could be raffled off for a dog charity. So dave the dog went on a car journey to Sammy food fairies today and will be well looked after until he is rehomed to the perfect family. Thankyou Tess ######

After last night's tragic news of the bulldog who was taken to a firework display to be left so scared he ran away for his life and died in a strangers arms from a heart attack. This is just one of many stories we are hearing and will hear over the next few weeks about the trauma this time of year causes to animals. Please I beg you DO NOT take your animals out during the peak times of fireworks being set off and especially DON'T take them to a display. Animals don't understand what they are and that they won't get hurt, animals have such sensitive hearing those loud bangs to us are 10 times louder for them!!

The 5th November isn't even here yet but we are already seeing a massive increase in the amount of dogs (of all breeds) going missing due to them bolting / jumping fences because they are being frightened by fireworks. Some of them have tragically lost their lives after running scared 😞. Please do all that you can to keep your dogs safe during this time.

🐾 Keep walks to daylight hours when fireworks are less likely to go off.

🐾 Keep your dogs on lead and close to you at ALL times incase a firework unexpectedly goes off, a frightend dog can take off into the distance very quickly.

🐾 Make sure their collars/harnesses are done up to fit correctly so they can not be slipped out of. You can walk them in both a collar and harness with leads attached to both for extra security if needed. (A frightened dog will panic and try to escape their lead/harness).

🐾 If they need to go into the garden take them out on the lead. A frightened dog can easily clear a 6ft fence.

🐾 Create a 'safe' place for them to hide in the home, a crate covered with a blanket or a den between chairs usually works well.

🐾 Close doors, windows & curtains and have the radio / TV on to drown out the sound / light of the fireworks.

🐾 Act normal... if you are worried or act differently your dog will sense it and it may make their anxiety worse.

🐾 Make sure your dogs microchip details are up to date and that they are wearing an identity tag should the worst happen.

🐾 If your dog is particularly frightened of fireworks you can buy Adaptil sprays, thundershirts and snoods that seem to work well or you can get stronger medication from your vet.

🐾 If your dog does sadly go missing ensure you inform your local dog warden, microchip company, vets and rehoming group as soon as possible.

Please keep your hounds safe 💜

Lastly whether you are a animal lover or not if you are doing a display at home for your friends and family please consider the low noise or soundless firework selection avaliable to buy now. ( see pictures 3,4,5 & 6) These will give the same bright colours in the sky and will have a much less impact on those animals and people who are terrified this time of year.

Asda sell soundless / low noise fireworks 💥 🎧 An Asda spokesperson: "We know that many of our customers love fireworks, but we also know that some customers and their pets don't like the noise, which is why this year we have launched a collection of low noise fireworks so that everyone can still enjoy the show." Some Aldi and Morrisons stores are stocking them too whilst Sainsbury's issued an outright ban.

It is illegal to set off fireworks in the street in the UK. The law says you must not set off or throw fireworks (including sparklers) in the street or other public places. You can be fined up to £5,000 and imprisoned for up to six months for selling or using fireworks illegally - you could also get an on-the-spot fine of £90. The law also says you must not set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am, except for Bonfire Night when the cut off is midnight. On New Year's Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year the cut off is 1am.
