September is Happy Cat Month and today we're celebrating our ginger fur-babies!
Our gardens can be a safe haven for many wild species such as hedgehogs, foxes, squirrels and many different types of birds. However, it’s important to take a little time to make sure there are no hazards for our garden visitors!
Check our top tips for a wildlife-friend garden:
🦔 When cutting or strimming, check if there are no animals under piles of leaves or hedges that might get hurt.
🐿️ Avoid applying any harsh chemicals like pesticides or w**d killers, so you don’t poison insects and the animals that feed on them.
🐦 Consider keeping a compost pile, bird feeders and have fresh water available for any visitors that might show up.

X-ray and ultrasound are common diagnostic imaging modalities that we have available to help us find your pets’ problems. 🐶🐱
The development of these non-invasive, accessible and reliable techniques has allowed us to diagnose and treat a huge number of important problems such as fractures, cancer or chronic kidney disease, to name a few!
These days we can also rely on fantastic technology such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computerised tomography scan (CT), advanced machines that can look at organs that are hard to see with ultrasounds or X-rays (for instance, the brain or some internal organs) with incredible precision.
While these exams can be a bit more expensive, we know they will make all the difference in your pet’s health!
Ear cropping of dogs is illegal in the UK! 🐶 A recent survey from the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home charity has revealed that a large percentage of people did not know that ear cropping was illegal.
Even though social media might show plenty of dogs with cropped ears, this is not acceptable, and we urge our community to share this information!
Older pets are amazing company! There are many advantages to adopting an older dog 🐶 or cat 🐈 such as:
🐾 What you see is what you get, so no surprise growth spurts or significant body changes:
🐾 They are house-trained, usually love taking it easy, and their personality is already fully developed;
🐾 As they are less likely to be adopted, you’d be helping a pet in need and getting a fantastic buddy!

If you’re thinking of bringing rabbits into your family, don’t forget to consider the space they will need! 🐰
Aim to have at least 3 metres of continuous space so your rabbits can run, hop and binky to their hearts’ content!
Owners know their pets best, so when you spot a significant change on your pet’s sleeping, eating or moving patterns, don’t chalk it up to something unimportant.

Rabbits 🐇, just like cats and dogs, can suffer from severe, often deadly, infectious diseases that can be prevented with vaccines.
Myxomatosis and Rabbit Haemorrhagic disease are two serious problems that are much harder to treat than they are to prevent. Keep your bunnies safe and in excellent health by ensuring they have their vaccines up to date!
Do you know what is the most diagnosed cat disease in the UK? Gum disease! Also called periodontal disease, it represents a whopping 15% of problems diagnosed annually and it is likely that your cat might be suffering or will suffer from it.

When you see your dog having a seizure, this is understandably very distressing! 🐕🐾 In a second, they are ok, and the next, they seem to have lost control of their body. This is most often caused by idiopathic canine epilepsy, which means we don't what's causing the seizures. However, prompt treatment should be sought, as repetitive seizure activity might become an emergency. Please call us as soon as you suspect or see that your pet has had a seizure!

A recent law change has introduced mandatory microchipping for cats and owners will have until June 2024 to microchip their cats🐈 We feel this is an amazing step forward for the protection of our beloved feline family members as it helps pets who have been lost or stolen get reunited with their owners.
