Are you thinking about life beyond ownership? Maybe you’d like to sell your vet practice in the next 2-3 years, ensuring it stays independent?

Here's a few things to consider:

- Would you prefer a short or extended handover period? Opting for a longer handover will improve your sale prospects and provide a gentler transition.
- Entrusting your legacy to a new owner means you'll want to be 100% happy that your team, patients and clients, will be in the absolute best hands. Finding the right buyer is essential - but it can be timely.
- You won't necessarily sell to the first interested buyer. And not every enquiry will result in a viable sale.
- Managing the negotiations and securing the right buyer can take several months.
- Furthermore, due diligence can take anywhere up to 12 months to complete.

As you can see, time is of the essence!

In 2011, when began, black cats took an average of 7 days longer to rehome than cats of other fur colours. By 2020, this average was down to only 2 days 🖤

We recently had the absolute pleasure of visiting the wonderful team at Wangford Veterinary Clinic. The weather was grey but the energy inside the practice was anything but! 🎨

Walter Stohr and his team have been part of the Vet Dynamics family for a while, and it was great to lead them through a Contribution Compass workshop, where we explored natural areas of flow, communication styles, and how to harness our strengths to function even better as a team. When we align our roles with our natural strengths, we can achieve far more together, than individually.

Thanks to everyone who took part on the day; for having us (and giving Vet Business Consultant Gemma Barmby a tour!), and for your valuable contributions and feedback.

A personal message from James:
After 30 years in practice I am now carrying out PhD research with the team in the Suicidal Behaviour Research Lab at Glasgow University. I am investigating suicidal thinking within our professions, with a focus on risk and protective factors for suicidal behaviour.

Up-to-date, accurate, evidence-based answers will help us better understand how to employ effective evidenced interventions to support everyone in our community.

This anonymous, confidential, online study is open to vets, vet nurses, vet students and student vet nurses. It has ethical approval from The University of Glasgow and will take you around 15 minutes to complete.

For this study we are looking for participants with experience of suicidal thoughts and those without experience of suicidal thoughts.

It’s Day 2 of the Vet Dynamics Conference 2024!

This morning, we’re back to the serious matter of vet business CPD. Delegates have been exploring marketing for abundant practice as well as the mechanics of creating financial abundance. Both sessions presented by our guest speaker, Dr Sam Bowden. Thank you Sam, for your motivation and inspiration.

Next up we saw the brilliant Becky Keeble from Simply Keyhole who showcased the many benefits and clinical advantages of laparoscopy. Thank you Becky 🙏
