Splash opened in 2006 and since then has helped many dogs with orthopaedic problems to lead normal happy lives. Conditions such as hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia and arthritis can benefit massively from swimming in warm water, improving mobility and easing pain. The canine treadmill has helped many dogs to strengthen their back legs and greatly improve their fitness. It helps to improve the gait a

fter injury and proprioception is improved. Elderly dogs that may not be up to swimming can benefit from a massage in the same way as we humans. Muscle soreness is eased, circulation improved and mobility of the joints is increased.

The pool water has just been tested by an external lab to make sure the water quality is being maintained. This is what they said under 'Actions required'-

"No actions are necessary, the bacteriological analysis is excellent."

Dilly, the most adorable Collie who loved to swim, sadly PTS last week. She stole a piece of my heart and me & my dogs all loved her. So glad you got to spend some time in the pool with her Anne. Sending the biggest hugs 💔

Helen brought Maxi for a swim today, probably much to his disappointment 😂. I was thrilled that despite hating swimming he gave me an amazing greeting. That wetsuit has come in really handy Helen!

Hello everyone! I am making progress, getting around a little with my trusty steed (pictured) and today I have put clothes on for the first time since the Air Ambulance cut all mine off! A very stretchy pair of shorts as my leg is still very swollen but after nearly 2 weeks I am celebrating 🎉🎊. Also pictured is my Rotti Sprout, who as you can see is clearly very stressed without me 🤣

Hi everyone just to let you know I am currently in hospital about to have surgery to pin my femor, which was broken when my horse fell on top of me on Friday. I don't know when I'll be back but I will try and keep you posted.

Misty has recently celebrated his 13th birthday. He looks fabulous for his age, helped to stay fit and mobile by one hydrotherapy session and one treadmill session a week and a regular massage, lucky boy ❤

Friday afternoons seem to have been taken over by Springwood Grange dogs! Springwood Grange is the yard where my horses live and these 3 beauties are owned by my friends from there - meet Bob, Derek and Zac. Derek is modelling the latest swimming hat 🤣 😍😍😍

Teaky started at Splash in 2013 after being diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia at 11 months old. During her time at Splash she had her hips replaced, developed elbow dysplasia and spondylosis. She hated swimming but knowing how much it helped, her dedicated owners continued with her hydrotherapy until recently when she came for massage therapy instead. Yesterday they finally had to say goodbye. So sorry for your loss Angie & Geoff, you gave her such a good life ###

This beautiful girl was lost suddenly on Wednesday, something I am finding quite hard to process. My heart goes out to you Angela, it is so devastating for you. Such a special dog, I really loved her and can't imagine Mondays without her. Words seem so inadequate at times like this. Sending all my love ❤️

Wow what a storm! Poor Terrie and Brandy arrived right in the middle of it. Brandy had hailstones on her 🌩🌧❄

Sammy has a lot of problems with her ears, which is not helped by getting them wet! Both her owner and the vet want her to continue swimming so asked me to think of a way to keep her head higher in the water. Using floats on the front of the jacket lifts her chest up higher rather than just her head, ensuring her spine stays in a neutral position. Now she can continue with her hydrotherapy which is helping to keep her mobile in her old age
