Having spent the last 30 years in Financial services and being made redundant for the 2nd time in 2 years I decided to quit the rat race and enter into a much more rewarding career. I have always wanted to own my own business, I am a total dog addict and I'm very creative. Now you can set up as a groomer with no training and just a pair of scissors. That was not for me, if I was going to enter int

o this profession wanted to be very good at it. I found a brilliant City and Guilds Trainer/Examiner who actually trained a groomer that went on to win Crafts. She is one of the best Groomers in the UK and Grooming wholesalers use her to test their products before they release them for sale. The training was tough particularly for a mature student like me but I got through it and a achieved my qualification. I have set up a purpose designed dog salon in the grounds of the Sherfield Garden Centre where I will groom all breeds of dogs from the tiny teacups to the big boys, pedigrees to muts! They will all get the same level of loving professional service and will be treated like one of my own dogs. If you are in the area please pop in and say hello and see the set up for yourself. I may not be able to groom but I can make doggy ice lollies for my customers to keep them cool. Here's my Buddy & JJ road testing the banana & doggy peanut butter lollies. They went down a treat! I've got plenty more in the freezer!

So 2 weeks on I've had my stitches out and recovery is going well. Andy has done a really good job keeping things going & I just pop out & cuddle the dogs! Bear with us, we are struggling to fit everyone in as quickly as usual but hopefully I'll be back soon!

So after a disappointing delay I finally had my reverse shoulder replacement done yesterday! There's not much of my original body left now! Feeling a bit battered & bruised today but onwards & upwards now. Hoping to come home this afternoon. So relieved to get it done it's been a difficult few months. Andy is cracking on in the salon!

9 years of grooming takes it toll on your joints (particularly when you have the level of osteoarthritis that I do). I have been suffering with my left shoulder for about a year but it has now come to the point that my only option is surgery (I only have 20% movement remaining, no cartelidge or working tendons & it's bone on bone - if I was a dog they'd put me down!). I am going in for a full shoulder replacement on 19th June. For a couple of months I will be very limited in what I can do with one hand but my son Andy who has been grooming for 4 years (& still has all his working parts!) will be here with me. Many of you know him already & he will likely have groomed your dogs before. It does mean our availability will be reduced for a couple of months so I would recommend you get your bookings in the diary. But I'll be back....if 5 hip replacements and a thumb fusion hasn't stopped me this won't either! Please bear with us! X

I have been asked by one of my customers to find a loving forever home for her 10 month old chocolate roan cocker spaniel. She's a beautiful girl, I've groomed her twice, but due to very sad circumstances she needs a new home. Please message me if you'd like to be considered/meet her. To make it clear & to honour my commitment, I will only allow her to go to someone I know ie not friends of friends. I need to know she will go to a home where she will be loved and cared for as she has been until now. She's quite petite & totally stunning

As well as grooming your pooches I also do resin art. I will be at this craft fair tomorrow. Pop along there will be lots of nice things on other stalls too. These are a few of my creations! I can do personalised items ie with specific teachers names etc.

Happy Halloween. I'm pleased to say I'm on the mend and actually groomed a couple of dogs today. Still a way to go until I'm completely better so I'm just easing myself back in gently with just a few dogs. Thank you for all your messages of support it was a great help in what was a difficult time. Please bear with me as I try to catch up x
