Meanwhile in other news .

It's flea and tick season again! Fleas are most active at between 21 and 29 degrees. The regular spot on treatment for cats and dogs is sometimes not as effective as we would like. The result our pets itching and scratching and generally feeling uncomfortable and even a potential vet visit should a flare up occur

In our continued battle against the fleas I would
highly recommend you consider investing in an electronic ( battery operated ) flea comb.

They emit a small charge that is harmless to your cat or dog but kills the fleas and eggs instantly. It also apparently kills ticks. With no nasty chemicals

I would suggest these combs are more suited to shorter / finer hair pets as the teeth of the comb are very close together.

Some of them emit a small beeping noise so slow introduction and some distraction via treats would be recommended when grooming your pet.

Personally it has been a game changer for my cats. They get groomed each day in addition to the spot on treatments and I've been happy with the results. There has been a lot less scratching!

I cannot guarantee results for you or recommend a specific brand but if you are worried about your pet and fleas you can pick one of these little beauties up for between £5 and £10 on ebay and amazon.. Just saying

🔥ITS STILL HOT 🔥

Heat stroke can kill your dog , it can also cause unnecessary suffering and a hefty vet bill

Please be aware of the temperature before you take your dog for a walk. Check it don't chance it. Get a free temperature/ weather app for your phone.

Anything over 22 degrees is too hot 🔥

Put your hand on the pavement and hold it there for 5 seconds. Hot for your hands is hot for their paws.

Limit your walk time to late evening and early mornings. Please do not take your dog our in the midday/ afternoon sun!

On days when the temperature is above 22 degrees Please do not take your dog shopping and leave them in the car. Even if it's only for a short time. Leave them at home where it is cooler.

Your dog will lose heat through its paw pads, and is unable to do this on hot pavements. Avoid hot pavements to avoid burnt pads. Head for shade.

Do not let them run about and get over excited and over heated on hot days .

Take a bottle of water for them to help keep them hydrated

Please do not risk your dogs safety and wellbeing because you don't want to break your routine

Momma puss is on the missing list and due to have kittens soon. Please can we keep a look out for her and potentially her babies

Please post. Has anybody seen this cat around? She’s having kittens and she’s not come home. I’m worried that she’s had them outside somewhere as she’s normally back by now. Could you please check sheds and stuff to see if she is around and had them. Thank you

Such sad news that the Grendon cat shelter is closing. Please can we share, share, share this link and help find homes for the ones that are left waiting.

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=296314236241804&id=100075896898531

It is with great sadness that we announce the retirement of Jean Rowe, owner of Grendon Cat Shelter 😺

Jean has dedicated most of her life to the rescue, care and rehabilitation of unwanted and stray cats and kittens. Grendon Cat shelter has literally been a lifeline, and a last chance for so many.
Over the next few weeks/months we will be posting as many cats as we can as most cats at the shelter need to be rehomed.

If you have adopted a cat from Jean in the past, we wonder if any of you would consider opening your heart and your home for one more kitty to enjoy the love and comfort of a forever home to call their own.

About Auntie Al

I am a very small local business offering a bespoke one to one service of care for your pet. I have traditional values and know the animals I regularly work with extremely well, I consider and treat the animals in my care as I would my own, like one of the family. I do not believe in group walks, where possible the interaction will be on a 1 to 1 basis unless specifically requested and discussed with the owner. I pride myself on doing my job in a safe and responsible way and will always consider what is best for the animal. I have found that this enables a relationship based on familiarity security and trust, not only with the pet being cared for but also with the owners. I am fully insured, DBS checked, with references available on request.

Since I can remember animals have been my passion in life. I have always had cats at home, but started my career working with animals in 2013 as a volunteer at a local rescue charity, working mainly with rescue cats and dogs from the UK and abroad. My role included the day to day care of dogs and cats within the shelter, along with campaigning to find them a new home, and meeting and greeting at charity events and open days and online advertising. Although the work was often heartbreaking I enjoyed it very much, especially working alongside animal behaviourists and learning the psychological aspects of rehabilitation, working with abuse cases where patience and understanding is needed to gain an animals trust and confidence. I enjoyed my volunteer time so much that in 2015 I decided to give up the corporate world and become a full time animal carer. Since this time I have had the absolute pleasure of getting to know and work with a variety of dog breeds and personalities. Its been my privilege to assist families in the training and rehabilitation of dogs who have had very shaky starts, dogs from Romania , dogs rescued from fighting backgrounds and from Puppy Farms. I currently have 3 rescue cats of my own, 2 of which I hand reared from 4 weeks old due to abandonment by their mother. It has given me great satisfaction to help all of the animals I have cared for on their journey to become more loving, trusting, and behaved in a domestic environment

I look forward to hearing from you and your pet
