Working on reinforcing some impulse control. I’ve struggled, obviously, with training whilst recovering so I thought this was a good place to restart. Daisy is learning to wait for her food - she would normally jump up the cupboards continually until it hit her bowl. We also did a wait by the door to stop her pulling me through it. She’s good at sitting by the door but likes to get to her walk ‘RIGHT NOW THIS SECOND’ so tends to drag you out once it’s open. This took a good few attempts but she eventually understood what I wanted. Then on the walk it was chaos as she pulls like… well… a spaniel and there were kids giving her fuss and cuddles at the bus stop (this is something else we are working on with building her confidence) and afterwards I wanted to try and get her to figure out where the end of the lead was but instead she just wanted to meerkat 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣🐾

Got back into studying whilst I’m off my feet following my surgery. Two more assignments in canine science before I can get my teeth into the dog training side of things

Got to meet Angus and Jaxson today. Teenage labradors that just need a bit of tweaking with their training to calm them down and make them listen. Starting off with teaching them to go into their “room” when told - this will then become a chill spot for them when visitors come over to help ease the excited teenage jumping and clothes pulling (visitors also need to learn to not encourage them 👀) then we will work on loose lead walking and teaching Angus that he has a nose and how to use it 🐾

Met Bash today… who is reactive to dogs on walks… although today he was an absolute angel! Probably not helped with the weather and lack of other dog walkers ☔️

Owners are going to try and get me some video footage to examine and/or another observation walk booked in when there’s more dogs about. Watch this space 🐾
